Lore idea: Scabbard witnessed Shiver’s rebirth from the pool of disease (primordial soup) and was awe-struck of what she became. He tracked her from afar out of curiosity to see what she was, and what would she do with her newfound form (lol stalker). After her “banishment” and demonstrating a power she unleashed or of rage (malevolent spirit form) he saw her as a living god and was smitten. He approached her with an offering of food and offered his service and guidance of the plague lands. She was apprehensive but accepted since she had nothing else going for her.
