Biography
Walipektew (wayl-ee-pick-too) - A cannibal spirit from the Pacific Northwest, most notable due to its wispy quadrupedal form and elk skull head. Violent and voracious, they are cannibalistic humans cursed by gods to be the animal they wished to become.
Wali and his wife, Banu, claim to have come from the frozen north, though no proof of any means to do so has been discovered. He has been kissed by the strong winter winds that bore him, like his wife, though many would rather call it a curse and there is strong proof of that. His control over it is simply more refined, and so without a set of cues, it is extremely difficult to tell he is anything more than a lavishly dressed basic Mirror.
Wali embodies hopeless frigidness. Those in his general vicinity have noticed that he is not only extremely cold to the touch, but that breath can be seen on the air when he is nearby. Very rarely does his facade flicker to show the frostbitten rot underneath the illusion, usually when he is on the verge of or tipped over the threshold of livid. However, he does emit patches of thin ice sheeting when his emotions shift suddenly. His front eyes, usually used to see thermal patterns in a Mirror's environment, see differently; all he can pick up is cold patches that differ from the surrounding world. It makes his ability to hunt without aide very difficult, though with a good set of eyes and direction, he is still a strong overpowering predator.
Wali is, as all Mirrors tend to be, quiet. However, he seethes very openly. As one of two acting representatives for the weyr-mother Anthem, he tries to keep it under relative control and act somewhat diplomatic, though Banu typically handles the talking and Wali is the intimidating monster in the background. He's exceptionally picky about the Vanguard and while he can appreciate and admire the broad brute strength of Guardians, prefers still the overwhelming swarm of his own kind. As such, the peacekeeping force appointed by him is entirely made up of Mirrors, which also act as his active hunting and scavenging force.
Though he is relatively approachable as a whole, he shares his wife's similar sinister appetite. When intruders do not show respect or act threateningly, he exercises his breed standard ability to devour his own weight.
He may not be able to hunt properly, but that does not mean his preferred meal doesn't always come into his metaphoric waiting maw.
