Biography

Tempest
Clan founder and leader
At last, I may rest.

Tempest is the founder and leader of Draconequis clan. She is a seasoned and respected warrior who is very good at hiding her emotions. She is always vigilant and seems to not know how to relax. She is a born leader, and would die for the good of her clan. Since she is the leader, she scarcely sleeps, having multiple responsibilities which require her immediate attention. One of the most present issues she has is keeping a leash on Acrotis, who only listens to her.

She was actually formed by the Arcanist who bestows life upon the discarded crystal orbs in his laboratory to create a dragon egg with no parents. The dragons are passed under the watchful eye of several Arcane sprites who choose what each dragon will do before they are even born. When touching Tempest's egg, they immediately shoved Tempest into the pile of those meant to become the Arcanist Elite. One hundred eggs were set aside to serve as the Arcanist's personal protectors. These eggs would be hatched and the dragons would not be granted names.. for names were something a dragon could attach to.. which would lead to emotions.. and Soulbinding. Soulbinding was something to be avoided at all costs..as it could lead to multiple dragons dying at once. The dragons were designed to be emotionless, vicious soldiers.

Tempest was among one of the first dragons to hatch. She was soon nicknamed 'bloodwing' to distinguish her from the other unnamed dragons. Training for the one hundred dragons was vicious and rigorous. In the end, only thirty dragons survived the training. During the training, Tempest showed remarkable aptitude for Arcane magic, even outclassing a few of the Faes in the group. She also showed prowess in battle, and was capable of formulating complex strategies in her head while fighting viciously against her opponent. This skyrocketed her in the rankings where she became a commander of the Arcanist Elite.

Despite the fact that none of the dragons were supposed to form connections, Tempest formed a strong bond with a young mirror female nicknamed 'skull.' They were two of only five female dragons, and decided to stick together and protect each other. They even made a vow to die together. However, everything was thrown out of wack when 'Skull' was Soulbound to a male mirror nicknamed 'Slicer.' For the first time in her life.. Tempest broke the rules and did not report either of the mirrors for their relationship.

And for some time, the fighting was dull and boring. Tempest and her wing dealt with the Beast-clans. This lull in action lasted months.. until something horrifying happened. Out of nowhere, a fragment of the shade descended upon the elite force of dragons. The shade filled the air around them and consumed all of their surroundings in darkness. Tempest watched with horror as 'Skull' was torn to shreds. As she attempted to fight for her friend's life, the shade fazed right through her claws, unharmed, and started tearing her warriors apart. Tempest shouted as the shade tore the wings off of a guardian beside her, and she doubled her fight against the darkness. But everything she said fell on deaf ears, and the shade descended upon Tempest, engulfing her in darkness. She was suspended in the strange power, and it whispered at her, tugging at her heart. Through sheer force of will, Tempest remained conscious and fought against the shade as it started slashing through her body. She remained standing even as the shade cut out her eyes. Tempest blindly raged through the darkness, and her claws caught the shade. Somehow, through sheer force of will, anger, and desperation, she managed to wound the shade. The shade dove into Tempest with renewed vigor, and Tempest felt it enter her body through the open wounds on her body.

Tempest knew she was dying, but she was not going to give up, she would fight till the end of her strength. She pushed against the offending shade, blood raining on the ground. And suddenly, Tempest felt a strange burning sensation. As if the world around her caught fire. An intense Arcane energy unlike anything Tempest had ever felt surged around them, engulfing the shade bit by bit. The last Tempest can recall of the battle was an intense searing pain, and the sinking sensation that she had died.

When Tempest woke next, she was shocked to discover that she had perfect vision again, and there was no sign of any of the wounds which she had received in battle.. Instead, there were white scars dotting her scales. Tempest felt strangely sluggish, and something within her rustled. After she woke, she was immediately escorted to the Arcanist by several giggling pink Faes with huge grins on their faces. Tempest immediately bowed to the Arcanist, feeling ashamed, knowing she had failed him. The Arcanist informed her only two dragons other than herself had survived the onslaught. Those two were a mirror and a guardian. However, the three of them had been irrevocably changed. Tempest was the worst out of the three dragons who survived the ordeal. The shade had fused with her blood stream in order to escape the Arcane magic which had attempted to vaporize it, and a piece of it now lived within her body.

The Arcanist admitted that he was intrigued and performed several tests on Tempest. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary at first other than her ability to heal much quicker than any normal dragon. Until he put Tempest in mortal danger. As if responding to the danger, the shade rose within her, and her wounds re-opened, leaking shadows all over her body in black streaks. The shade inside her generated a massive storm, a black funnel which swallowed everything in its path. Tempest actually lost control of herself at this point, her normally pink eyes turned black, as she started to become the shade. The Arcanist had no choice but to knock her out.

The Arcanist delivered Tempest her name, after her fighting spirit, and the storm within her, which (he discovered through intense observation) was partially generated by the shade, and partially generated by the she-dragon herself. With a flick of his tail he decided that Tempest would be banned to the furthest reaches of his clan's territory, where she would either learn to control the monster inside of her, or be consumed.

Tempest was rather at a loss when she found herself banished with the others who remained of the Arcanist Elite. She recognized the mirror with a twinge of her heart, the one who had been Soulbound to her best friend, he had survived, and was now broken. And the guardian, said to have the sharpest tongue.. but now unable to speak. She felt like screaming to the sky.. lamenting all that had gone wrong. She did not eat for months, wishing to waste away, for her charge was gone, she had nothing left to live for. Just when she was ready to die, the Shade took over her body. If forced her to hunt, to eat, and nearly killed her friends in the process. She only regained control through sheer willpower. From that day forth, Tempest realized she could not give up or die and took on a new charge. She would learn to control the shade within her, and create a clan who took in dragons who were down on their luck.

A few weeks after Mildew, Tempest, and Acrotis formed the Draconequis clan, they ran into a quirky Coatl named Sliver. He was unlike the dragons the three warriors had known, instead being cheery and carefree, while displaying an odd way of hunting. Tempest kept Sliver at a distance, erecting stone walls between herself and the cheery, eccentric dragon. She wanted nothing to do with emotions like laughter, which would just lead to heartache.. which she had experienced once with Skull. However, Sliver continued to chase after Tempest, charming her with words, and making her heart leap. Tempest lashed out each time he tried to be romantic with her, furious with herself for starting to feel anything for the Coatl. To her horror and anger, Sliver and Tempest were suddenly and rather forcefully Soulbound. Instead of consenting to the ceremony, she was thrust into an intense link she had not been ready for. She was furious at this development, and erected more walls between her and Sliver. For a while she didn't talk to anyone in the clan, and desperately searched for ways to remove her Soulbinding. She remembered what had happened to 'Skull' and 'Slicer' and did not want history to repeat its self.

Sliver delicately taught Tempest that love was not a weakness, and that he could help her. When she lost control of herself to the shade, Sliver was the only one capable of calming her using the connections between their minds. Tempest grudgingly accepted her new Soulbound status when she realized what he had done.

Though Tempest will not admit it, she cares for Sliver deeply. If he is ever hurt, she immediately rushes into battle and slays whatever harmed him. She claims she is just protecting those in her clan, but she isn't really fooling anyone. Sliver slowly chipped away at Tempest's outer shell, and he is the closest to her out of anyone in the clan. He is one of the only dragons who has ever seen Tempest actually smile.. and the only dragon who has ever seen her cry.

Slowly the shade is starting to take over Tempest's body, turning her silver scales pitch black and creating strange glowing blue circles which act as extra eyes and allow her to see nearly 360 degrees around herself. She struggles to remain in control of the shade, but she is losing the battle.

Using some kind of dark magic, Lilith overthrew Tempest, causing the shade to strengthen in Tempest's blood and her to lose control of herself. She managed to regain enough semblance to order the others who were still loyal to her to escape before the shade took control of her again. She now resides in the planes between Arcane and Plague clan, battling the infection that is threatening to consume her whole. She managed to get free from her companion, Mildew and roam the lands alone trying to figure out a way to control herself.

However, she was soon beset upon by Gaolers, who upon finding she had the shade inside her blood, fought and defeated her. She was then taken far away from her native land to the Gaoelers main base in the icewarden's territory. Where she was effectively imprisoned.

After living among the Gaolers for several years, the Gaolers subjected her to several rather painful and sometimes embarrassing experiments to try and rid her blood of the Shade. Eventually, they were successful, though the side effects of the treatment were that her scales were no longer the same as they had been long ago. When she was finally healed, she returned home to her clan, with the help of Petrichor, The Between and the other dragons of the clan they overthrew Lilith and her dragons, banishing them to The Void.

After this, Tempest declared she was tired and no longer wanted to rule, handing over the reigns of the clan to Petrichor and retiring with Sliver.
