She was restless already, at barely seven hours old. The night was dark with a crescent moon shimmering above gathering clouds. She sensed a river in the distance so she decided to waddle and attempt her first flight to see what the night would bring.
She rested her young wings - it was a difficult flight for a baby Bogsneak - near a large weyr on the river's edge. She sat where she was, enjoying the night around her when she suddenly realized there were eyes besides those of her familiar Prism watching her. A break in the clouds allowed the moon's light to reveal a Nocturne darker than her own self, also enjoying the night.
"It is beautiful, isn't it?" She spoke to her mysterious companion.
"Yes, you are." he answered.
"Oh - I meant the moon, the clouds, the stars reflecting on the river." she explained.
"The night is beautiful in itself but also because it has brought us together." he replied.
"But you are so sleek and beautiful - what would you want with this awkward baby Boggle?"

"You were born on the day of my Weyr Spirits' special day. She has just granted you a wish - look closely in the water." She looked into the river where she saw a pretty Nocturne baby peering back at her. "Oh - is that me? How ... how ... what happened?" "Emberglo knew your secret wish and granted you a change. She also suggested that you be named Moonlitnyyt, as you were a gift to us all." Moonlitnyyt smiled. "I am honored. So very honored." |

They sat there, side by side, until the dawn broke and the coming day was revealed. She followed him back to his lair where they settled together.
Moonlitnyyt is not feeling restless any more.
