Quiet and serious, most who meet Jinx believe her to be the polar opposite of her boisterous and playful mate, Calamity. They wouldn't be completely wrong, but the pair share more traits than they have different. Despite her annoyed reactions to most of Calamity's pranks, Jinx shares his sense of humor and enjoys her mate's foolery more often than not. Both are logical and calm, even if Calamity may not act it, preferring to wait and plan before doing anything rash.

Jinx can appear cold to those that don't know her, due to her sometimes brutal honesty and being logical to the point where she appears immoral. Anyone in the Apolkyrfas would vehemently protest this, however, instead saying that Jinx is one of the kindest and most welcoming dragons in the clan, if in a roundabout and subtle way. Calamity was the Charge her Search led her to find, but if asked, she will most likely answer that the entire Apolkyrfas clan is under her care.

Even though her coldly logical conclusions may suggest otherwise, Jinx wishes for world peace. She plans to maintain this at least within their own large clan, and soon after the clan began to grow, she took up the role of Peacekeeper. Even the most bitter dragon within the Apolkyrfas would admit that the Guardian is fair and just, resolving many disputes within the clan with satisfactory results for any parties involved.

Like Calamity, Jinx doesn't speak much of the pair's past before they founded the Apolkyrfas. Her expression lacks the terror that gnaws at the edge of Calamity's eyes when asked, though, and she is more willing to answer questions about her own past if asked.

Jinx was born in the desert. When she says this, most think of the electricity-laced Shifting Expanse, or perhaps the rock-strewn wastelands of Dragonhome. Neither could possibly be correct, for the Guardian's brilliant pink eyes label her as Arcane through and through. But when dragons suggest that she is wrong about her place of birth, she shakes her head and remains firm: she was born in the desert, and she is Arcane, and both are true at the same time.

Her birth clan was more of a tribe, a group of wandering nomads, primarily Mirrors with a smattering of other species. Her parents were the only other Guardians in the group, and had somehow decided, separately, that the tribe was to be their Charge. Any other species may have fought upon this realization, but the Guardians only agreed warily to take care of the group of dragons together. Both had protected the tribe of multiple dangers and advised them upon so many better paths that when the old leader died, the pair was appointed as her replacement. Working together so much over the years had led to the two slowly falling in love, Jinx being their first hatchling.

Jinx's childhood was spent wandering the desert where she was born with her tribe, learning how to survive and fight and love and Guard. All too soon her time came to depart on a Search of her own, so with a heavy heart and a chest full of hope she left her home. When weaving her tale, Jinx has never explained what occurred to her during her Search, but she does suggest this: something had torn off half her face and out both her eyes before leaving her for dead. She survived, of course, with quiet anger smoldering in her heart. She created the headdress that she wears now and never removes and pushed on.

It wasn't long after the incident that the Guardian found Calamity. She refuses to say anything about his own past beyond her role in it. She only claims that a strange kinship drew her to him, the strange sensation that they had met before: even though she had only known those in her tribe, who never added outside members or left. The Guardian always ends the story at where she met Calamity and determined that he was her Charge, but there are times where she'll finish, look at the gathered dragons, and murmur, almost too quietly to hear, what drew me to him is in all of you as well.
