One can barely see the dragon under all of the hatchlings that crowd her. They call out with various nagging requests. "Anomaly!" One whines, tugging on her wing. "Could you please read The Gladekeeper's Three Sheep?" "No! Let's read Little Catcher's Pearl!" Another insists.

A full-fledged debate breaks out, and the children begin to go ballistic over what book to read. As the din intensifies, a smile slid across Anomaly's face. Memories began flooding her mind, recalling events of recent past. The day she met Erroneous was the day her life ended and began again. Hurt and left to die in the woods, he had shown her kindness and saved her by taking her back to a strange clan nestled along the rim of the diseased Wyrmwound within the Plague Territory. It was there that she was nursed back to health and invited to join Clan Macabre as a full fledged member. Having found her new home, and developing a huge crush on Erroneous, Anomaly accepted the offer. It took her no time at all to find her niche within the family, becoming the clan's Nest Mother and the mate of Erroneous, once Terabyte had succumbed to the taint which consumed her.

Anomaly has no interest in romantics, or at least that's what she tells those seeking her. At times, she can seem flirtatious, but it's rarely intentional. Every suitor that has made a move on her has been kindly, but firmly, let down, with her saying that she just isn't ready for that type of relationship. The truth, however, is far more than that. It's not that she isn't ready for a relationship; it's that she had eyes for only one dragon, though they kept their relationship hidden at first. Plus, each time that a dragon comes looking for her hand, all of the hatchlings get wound up and won't stop teasing and badgering her until she threatens to take away dessert for the night.
Anomaly's calm nature and way with the children is what first landed her the job of hatchling caretaker. She's cool and confident and doesn't crack under pressure, even when a whole clutch of hatchlings beg her for just one more cookie. She's kind to the hatchlings that she takes under her wings, but by no means is she soft or sloppy with their upbringing. If they do something that is truly wrong, she will punish them accordingly. Even so, she rarely has to resort to that, since all of the children adore her and would hate to be anywhere but her good side.

But when the hatchlings are threatened in any way, her kind, benevolent self disappears under a facade of pure, cold fury. She'd uproot entire forests and mountains if it meant finding a lost child. Everyone in the clan knows that, if you mess with the hatchlings, or Erroneous, then you mess with Anomaly.

  • She gained her name through having an abnormality, or Anomaly, in her DNA.
  • Due to said abnormality, she is nearly fully immune to the Shade Taint. Much to Erroneous' dismay and relief, this means that though she may become Shade Touched, it will not take her life as it has a lot of his wives.
