Basil is quiet and reserved. He loves the smell of fresh herbs, which are plentiful near the lair he built in his forest home. While he'd normally be ravenous for insects, he takes good care of his leafy moth, which helps pollinate his vast gardens by sunbathing on different plants. His gardens not only provide for his family, but to his wild forest neighbors. He has a lasting love and reverence for flora and fauna...particularly ravens.

Basil is a fair leader of his clan, though he had to learn a lot of things about caring for an extended family on the fly. His best lesson learned was to find a trusted "deputy" to represent the interests and needs for each breed and element of dragon. That, and learning to let go, to not feel solely responsible for each individual. (Though part is a continuing challenge for him! He feels care and pride for each of his family and 'followers.')

While he always seems "calm, cool and collected" the few things that can make him melt are his mate Jade, and their little Rosemary.

Despite Jade and many other clan members being much larger than Basil, they still treat him with respect, acknowledging him as their leader.
