He shouldn’t be alive. It is something he feels in his very essence, this longing feeling of swifter tides calling him back to the abyss. He was once the progen of the clan, the first King and Clan Leader. He was a fae of blue scales named “LittleBlue” and his mate had been QuietSea, the grand Matriarch of the Clan. They had recently been granted a new set of islands that they had dubbed the “Lionfish Isles”, and their first son, WaterPrince, had grown into a fine warrior and was the pride of the clan.

But disaster struck, a thresher shoal had nested in the northern shore of the island and took out a scouting patrol was in danger. QuietSea gathered her warriors, along with LittleBlue and WaterPrince, to save the patrol. Alas the numbers of the thresher shoal were greater than expected and all perished save QuietSea who was gravely wounded.

LostBlue does not remember his time in the realm of the dead, though he suspects that Tidelord granted him this so he would not lose his sanity. LostBlue was reborn from LittleBlue through a mysterious event called “The Color Wheel Explosion”. The event was a wave of magic that surged across the land of Sornieth, causing hatchies to display new vivid hues and colors. The wave also called back those long dead, the progens thought lost came back to the clans they had once served.

Brought back to life, LostBlue was filled with confusion and grief. QuietSea was now SeaQueen, and she was not the dragon he had loved so long ago…but still he loved her. She rejected him and his magic flared into a spiral of destruction. His eye turned black as the abyss and his body became translucent enough to show only white bones.

He would have died again till MaidenTide stepped in and halted the ruinous magic with amulets of necromancy. The priestess brought him back to Abyssal Acropolis and changed him into a guardian, binding him as the guardian of the dead of the clan. It is a fate that is worse than death, for he cannot die till every last clan member breathes their last and their bones become dust.

So he has become the undertaker of the clan, shepherding the bodies of the dead to a cemetery of bones deep in the Leviathan Trench. While bitter and grumpy over his forced servitude, he still holds deep loyalty and love for his clan. A curse of being a former progen he says. He partners with ShipWreck to lead the exalted through the treacherous Trench and to send the dead to their proper rest. The odd pair occasionally socialize with each other outside of work...mostly over their mutual hatred of MaidenTide.

LostBlue has now acquired two co-workers with the recent increase of population of the clan. The first was WispWitch, a spiritualist who works to send the ghosts and ghouls of the cemetery back to rest. However, her tendency to thieve grave goods has lead to more than one confrontation between them. His second co-worker, or rather assistant, is SunkenDread who helps him with preparing the dead for the abyss and occasionally using her magic to help shore up his spells. He does find her attentiveness to his needs rather off-putting, refusing to believe any dragon could truly hold fondness for him.

"Death comes to all, so don't swim so swiftly to her embrace and enjoy life while you have it."
