Mordo is one of the clan hunters, who is responsible for keeping the food stores stocked up as much as possible. His sunny disposition makes him one of the more approachable members and as the youngest, tends to be babied despite his hunting prowess and capabilities as a functioning clan member. Of the hunters, Mordo tends to bring home the bigger spoils.

- Hatchling Biography -
Mordo was raised at the base of the Cloudscrape Crags, where his pack would ruthlessly hunt the surrounding wildlife and occasionally brave the lower mountains for bigger game. His parents were not high up in the clan by any means, but they did well enough for themselves to be able to give their son whatever he needed. Their pack life was by no means easy. Some members would even call it brutal, nothing like what a “real pack” was supposed to be. Every member contributed and once you failed to be useful, you were cast aside. It was not family oriented in the slightest. If you weren’t providing in some way, then you were a waste of space. Hatchlings were an exception to this of course, but once they hit a certain age, the rules that applied to everyone else applied to them as well.

As a hatchling, Mordo was clumsy but happy and easy going, often swinging between interests with reckless abandon. His parents adored him and he was well loved by the other children his age. He had many friends to burn his excessive energy with and usually did a good enough job of staying out of trouble, though there were times when his lack of attention landed him in hot water, but not so bad as to end up fatal.

His mother hoped that it was just hatchlings being hatchlings, since such a personality was not suited for their pack’s way of life, but his father figured it was just how their son was wired.

- Adolescent Biography -
His father turned out to be right. As Mordo grew, his short attention span and clumsy nature did not fade, much to his mother’s increased worries. While it was still endearing and just who their son was, his parents feared that he would not be what the pack considered useful and fail to survive.

Thankfully, Mordo’s hunting skills quickly made themselves known and he was put through simple training to set him on track to become a pack hunter. It didn’t make it any easier for his parents to let him start going out with the other hunters, who were usually gone days at a time, but Mordo insisted that he could do it so they relented. The first trip, despite their worries, was a success and only served as the gateway for Mordo to truly begin his path as a hunter.

Over the next couple years, as he became very adept at hunting, he also lost both his parents. His parents’ deaths nearly drowned out his pride at becoming the youngest of the elite hunters, but he reasoned with himself that they would have been proud of him. He’d worked very hard, after all. His high energy nature allowed him great endurance, once he learned how to spend his energy judiciously, and his sense of sight and smell was even more finely honed with training from the other, more experienced pack hunters. Despite his skill improvements and his grief over his parents, he retained his clumsy and energetic nature.

Things eventually went wrong on an extended hunt in unfamiliar territory, when Mordo ended up separated from the others. He’d been tracking a deer, so focused that he hadn’t realized that the others hadn’t followed him, and pursued the animal to a clearing. As he prepared to go on the attack, he was slammed into a tree from behind, allowing the creature to escape.

As he whirled around in surprise, he came face to face with a much larger mirror, who viciously attacked him and took off to claim the animal for himself, leaving Mordo alone and injured. After he came to the painful realization that his pack wouldn’t be coming for him, he slowly made his way to the closest populated area in hopes that he would find help to treat his injuries. He finally found himself in a port town, where he was directed to the local doctor. He was treated fairly quickly and while Mordo offered to pay with what little treasure he had on him, the doctor refused and simply told him that it was no trouble at all.

As he was in the process of healing, the reality of his situation truly hit him and he cried for all that he had lost.

After he healed completely, Mordo’s curiosity finally won out over his grief and he ended up exploring the small community. Most of the dragons he came across were very kind and understanding and some of the locals eventually told him that he might do better in the other territories, so he scrounged up some treasure and bought himself a one way ticket on a boat to ferry him across the ocean and left without looking back.

Once he arrived at the Windswept Plateau, he set out on foot, though he didn’t exactly have a destination in mind. He eventually gained a new routine: travel as far as he could, hunt when hungry, and sleep when it gets dark. It wasn’t ideal, but it worked.

As time passed, Mordo found himself in the Tangled Wood, where he encountered Nacro, who almost attacked him for hunting in their territory. Mordo explained himself and apologized for the trespassing before he asked if there was anywhere he could take shelter for a couple nights nearby. Knowing that had Ausha been there, she would offer their home to this stranger, Nacro begrudgingly extended an invite for Mordo to come with him to his clan if he desired. Mordo enthusiastically agreed and followed the smaller mirror back to his clan, where he met with Ausha and Dak, who agreed to let him stay for as long as needed.

When Mordo realized he could join permanently, he jumped at the opportunity. Having been on his own for so long, he’d missed having a pack and while this clan isn’t exactly like a pack, maybe that’s a good thing considering how things turned out with his old one.

Mordo is now among the Penumbraladin ranks as a hunter. While he prefers to hunt with at least one partner, since that’s what he’s used to, he can hunt alone. Something that he does often since Nacro himself tends to be a solitary hunter, though Ausha has been trying to encourage him to hunt with Mordo more often.

Mordo’s boundless energy has not dimmed in the slightest and his constant need for something to hold his attention has grown into somewhat of a game among the members. Whoever manages to distract him the longest gets a prize of their choosing, if it’s reasonable of course, though Dak is always hesitant about giving out things to his troublesome clan.

But Mordo is just happy to have others to interact with again and enjoys talking to anyone who will listen. His desire for friendship and sweet personality make him a clan favorite and he is often babied as a result. Being one of the youngest members doesn’t really help either. Nevertheless, Mordo enjoys the attention and is happy as long as everyone else is happy so he doesn’t mind letting them coddle him a little bit. He’d maybe missed it a little anyways. It reminds him of his parents, whom he misses dearly, but he thinks that they would have liked Ausha and Dak, had they been given the chance to meet.

He thinks they would have been good friends.

- Additional Notes -
➤ His headdress is from his first kill as a hunter, which was gifted to him by the other pack hunters as a sort of initiation.
