Dragonet years
Despite having parents from the Water flight, Crag was raised in the Earth flight. He was part of a roving group of nomads, who had actually picked him up as a hatchling while he was wandering the desert, lost. His parents were nowhere in sight; to this day, it still isn't known who they were, and why they abandoned him in the sandy wastes, but luckily, a kindly Snapper by the name of Golemnia stepped in as his adoptive mother.
Now these people weren't your run-of-the-mill Earth flight dragons: They weren't traders, or monks, but bandits. Thieves. But they were d*mn good thieves, as if they had sprung from the stories of Robin Wing and his band of merry dragons. Crag's job in this group, at least, while he was young, was to be a distraction, or their main infiltrator, once he was old enough, of course.
This was a time of fun and cameraderie; He was well-loved by his fellow thieves, and his mother was a steady and nurturing soul, even when he showed that signature Ridgeback neuroticism.
Until, of course, the old leader was deposed. There had been a subgroup of thieves that had ambitions- They wanted a bigger cut of the money, they wanted more power.
It was as if the time of love and light had been cast away- A caste system was implemented, the leader and his close council recieved the most money. They robbed indiscriminately, and sometimes violently.
They were also no stranger to using manipulation to further their goals.
Golemnia was an avid and overt opposer to the "Thief King's" new rule. He was publicly permissive of it, but he knew how to get rid of her: get rid of Crag. He would get rid of the figurehead of the rebellion and the only ridgeback in the group; he had a distrust of Ridgebacks and their "borrowing" tendencies.
So when items of value were stolen from the other thieves- an heirloom, a precious piece of jewelry- The Thief King began to slowly, but surely turn the others against Crag. They began to blame him.

Bio
One day, one fateful day, Crag's family- his comrades- came to his door with murder in their eyes and mutiny in their hearts. Those that didn't believe the Thief King's stories were coerced by the others through sheer peer pressure. They weren't about to let Crag live after he "sold their dead mother's necklace for a few gold pieces" or "Squirreled away the wedding ring that was going to be given to a love."
Golemnia wasn't going to stand for it, so while Crag made his getaway, she stayed and stalled. It was the last kindness she would show her son, and her last action.
After this, Crag wandered for a while. Even though years had passed, he still found himself reeling from how swiftly his loved ones turned against him- he hadn't the foggiest idea. He was always the most naive, the one willing to take the intentions of others at face value and put ultimate trust in nearly everyone he knew, even if he just met them.
What had happened was tantamount to an earth-shaking revelation; he didn't know what was what anymore, and he felt as if he had no purpose.
For the longest time, as he wandered, he would find other small wandering groups and stay with them, offering his services as a guard or lookout. This would work out for a bit until he told them why he was wandering- he never stopped to think that anyone would grow suspicious of him. Eventually, he became accustomed to the lack of permanence- but was always unable to adjust how trusting he was. He could never be suspiscious of others, and always maintained faith in the goodness of others.
It was like this until one fateful day, when he met Pulpo.
Pulpo had been doing some soul-searching in the great canyons of the Earth territory, when Crag came across him. Pulpo tolerated him at first, finding his constant chatter and naivete annoying- but eventually, he began warming up to the chatty Ridgeback. He had no suspicions of him, and accepted him- even as he recanted his sad tale. There were no secrets between the two, and after a few years of wandering together, they took each other as mates and returned to Pulpo's clan, The Blue Vigil.
Once there, he was actually expecting suspicion and rejection- a testament to how long wronged this gentle and easy-going dragon has been. But of course, after not even a few hours, they all warmed up to his incessant chatting and the caring manner he had about him.

Job Description
Calypso gave the O.K. for him to actually be the head caretaker of hatchlings- a job he had always wished for since he had left his own clan all those years ago. Crag wanted to give them a better shot at life, and to aspire for more in life than resorting to thievery or dishonesty.
They don't have an architect, but one of the gifts given to The Blue Vigil by a clan they had rescued was a building service. He jumped on the oppurtunity to build a nursery, replete with a bubbler, currents, and small tide-pool cradles.
Part of his job also includes defending the nursery when it falls under threat. If all the able-bodied dragons are off on a mission or defending from attack, he stays back to protect the hatchlings and eggs.
More than on one occasion, he's left bodies outside the entrance, and upon entering the nursery, his spines are raised, and he's in full-battle mode.

Hobbies
He often likes to write stories- based on the stories he'd heard while traveling the Earth territory. Crag oftentimes reads these stories out loud at the evening Bonfire- and is actually a clan wide favorite storyteller because of the animated way he tells his stories. He throws his hands, gets dragons from the crowd to play out different parts, and even belts out into song when he gets to his balladic areas.
Crag also enjoys spending time with Pulpo, and is always planning different outings to take his mate on- whether it be on an easy swim through the coral gardens or open ocean, or to a nearby festival whenever they make landfall.

Physical Description
A rather tall dragon- taller than most Ridgebacks- and whip-thin. However, he has a gentle face and a soft physique, lacking the muscle that most dragons usually do. Crag makes sure to file his claws down to make sure he doesn't hurt his charges.
The piercings on his wings were actually acquired on a trip to a local pirate hub- he was planning on matching with Pulpo, but the latter chickened out at the last second.
