 Lumos is not so much enthralled by death as he is by Iilahkiir. Truthfully he is quite adverse to the smell of embalming oils and decaying cloth, but he would follow the Gravekeeper to the ends of Sornieth if that is what she required of him.

He is nothing like Iilahkiir in manner of speech-- that being, he can't shut up. But really, there isn't much to talk about when one's days are full of silent vigils and whispered rituals, not to mention Iilahkiir's veritable vow of silence outside of her duties. Despite being enraptured with her, Iilahkiir is a terrible conversationist, and Lumos wouldn't dare disrupt one of her delicately crafted rites.

The only other outlet for his loquacious tendency was the very dead around them. Souls that linger are often lonely, afraid of crossing into the unknown and seeking someone or something to keep them company. With a little magical assistance, Lumos can provide these souls with a semi-corporeal existence and a source of friendship, something that benefits both parties, and keeps the Yawning Graves' slumbering calm. He is still learning, and occasionally he accidentally gives a spirit an ill-suited form; a wooden toy, a tree frog, a teacup. But it rarely angers anyone; it's nice to have someone to laugh with.
