Stigma
Stigma remembers nothing of his life before he woke on the floor
of The Burning Caverns, the lair he now calls his own. He knows he is here by order of the Flamecaller, and knows his purpose serves so much more than just being. He knows he is here as a Leader, as a Mentor, and as a Protector, but in the beginning, he rebelled against his role.
"Why should I have to live my life the way the Flamecaller tells me to? I
am my own soul. I will choose my own path."
So he did, for a time. He rebelled against the path that had been chosen
for him for weeks, doing what he wanted whenever he wanted. There was another who joined him at the beginning, but she was weak of mind and body from the day she arrived. Stigma spent little time with her before she made her own decision to rejoin their, or, her, sacred Mother of Flame.
Stigma hated it, he hated this world, and he hated the so called 'Sacred'
Flamecaller. He screamed to the heavens and cursed the Flamecallers name, asking 'Why? Why am I here? Why have you put me in this place? My body turns to leave this damned cavern, but my mind and my heart and my soul yearn for me to stay. Why do I feel this way?'
He heard a loud, exasperated sigh from behind him and nearly jumped
at the Dragon he turned to face - a delicate Skydancer from the Land of Ice with perfectly preened feathers and long, dainty claws - a Dragon he would come to know as his best friend - Rayna. She stared at him for a few seconds then rolled her eyes at him. "The reason you are here is because your beloved Flamecaller thinks you have the potential to protect the many Dragons that will pass through here. And the reason you feel this way is because deep down, you know it too." She paused for a moment, more for dramatic effect than anything, then sighed again. "Now Mr 'I'm having an existensial crisis and I've only been here two minutes', are you going to let me into that cave of yours? I am an Ice girl, and if you haven't noticed, it's pretty damn warm out here."
