Adventurer/Fire Mage
The only item Natsu has left of his brother are a few torn pages from the other's journal; the rest was burned when his home clan found out what the other was up to. Now Natsu keeps those pages hidden. Anyone who finds them might misunderstand what his older brother was up to, after all. Even Happy doesn't even know the pages exist.
When Natsu heard rumors of a black coatl who lived in the wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth, he instantly left to see for himself, leaving Happy behind. Upon seeing his brother standing before him, Natsu had soon wrapped the other in a tight hug, humming happily. The other's response was less than expected, though, as he first stood there before coldly demanding that Natsu let him go. Pulling back, he noticed that a darkness deeper than he would have thought possible crawled over his brother's skin. He worked hard to convince the other to follow him back to the Hotaru clan, promising him whatever he wanted if he would do so. Building a hiding spot for his brother outside of the clan, he was able to trick Zeref into its confinement, using his mastery over his flames to trap the other in the cave system he'd explored, making sure there was no exit. Now he sneaks away from the clan to bring his brother food and to talk to him, hoping to find some sign that his brother is still inside the shade-touched dragon in front of him. His goal has shifted from finding his brother to saving him. Since he cannot trust those within his clan with his secret, he relies heavily on the Gemini Alliance and the researchers in their sister clan.
Hobbies: Natsu enjoys flying and spending time with his friends, especially Happy. Despite his outgoing nature, Natsu will occasionally go off on his own to speak with and care for his brother, afraid to trust anyone else not to harm him if he is shade-touched. As such he tends to avoid Tsuki and Niflheim. Otherwise his hobbies are eating and adventuring.
Name Origin: Named after one of my hermit crabs. Also the Japanese word for summer. Might be a reference.

"The minute you think of giving up, think of why you held on so long." Natsu was born into a clan in the Flamecaller's realm. He grew up to be very close to another dragon who acted as a brother figure to him. The other left when he was still a hatchling, however, and so once he was old enough Natsu left in search of him. He soon grew distracted by all the sights he saw along the way as well as all the other dragons he met. Finally settling down among the members of the Hotaru Clan, Natsu began to tentatively form a new family, although he never gave up his search. A talented fire mage, Natsu is well versed in his craft and is good at improvisation if not technical magic itself. Never much of one for book learning, unlike his brother, Natsu prefers to go out and learn by experiencing things on his journeys. Each obstacle he faces helps him grow and he's sure that if he just faces enough he'll be able to find his brother again. Two of Natsu's most noticeable traits are that he is stubborn and loyal, almost to a fault. He will stand by his friends, even if they are the ones in the wrong. It hasn't been used against him. Yet. Natsu's greatest concern is that his brother, a known researcher, might have been hurt during one of his research trips. Considering his subject of study was the Shade, many who know Natsu's story feel his fears are well-founded. Those who research the Shade tend to meet bad ends, either losing themselves to madness or being overcome by the Shade itself. Some in the clan worry that, should this be the case with Natsu's brother, he would attempt to hide the fact from the clan and sneak a threat right into the clan's heart. |
