______ There are times someone finds an egg left alone with no parents or way to find out who they were. On the occasions where these eggs find their way to the Last Retreat someone is needed to take care of them and raise the Hatchlings within. Foster, more often called Fos or Fosfos, serves as parent to those who hatch from these found eggs. As an orphan himself he was found during the Night of the Nocturne and raised by the Lair as the child of all. He now wants to make sure any child that comes to the Lair without a parent has someone to look after them. Serving alongside the others of the Nursery Guard this matronly Nocturne is often followed by a small flock of hatchlings of all breeds. He has made a permanent home in the Nesting Grounds of the Last Retreat, the bamboo grove being the safest place in the Lair to look after children. His den is expansive as his charges range from Imperial to Fae and well-worn from the many generations that have passed through his care. It is a permanent fixture of the Nesting Grounds with its cheerful playground beloved by hatchlings of all ages. For the benefit of the parents and his charges he runs a daycare service for younglings with the help of Shoot and Puppet, allowing his charges to play and befriend other young dragons and get a head start on their education. His den includes a large dining room where they can all gather for sandwiches and juice at lunchtime. His stash of donated toys are well-loved by generations of young dragons. At night he reads bedtime stories compiled by the Lair by the light of his smoldering sconce familiar Andel.

______ The runes that cover his limbs and side are a detection spell that alerts him when any of his charges are in danger, though they do not help with hide and seek. He is content in his job, often raising his charge from hatching to adulthood when they go off in the world to find their own way. He loves all of them dearly in their own way, but feels a little melancholy over his charges never staying. He has dedicated a wall to pictures of his charges, each with a little nameplate underneath them to remember them by. He often receives letters from his previous charges abroad in the world.
