At various times, has gone by Lorelei and Calypso. She changed her name to the latter soon after joining the clan, but after assuming the position of clan Ice Representative, she changed it back to Lorelei. If you follow the brook that runs through the forest upstream, you'll find yourself on a promontory overlooking the island's northern shore. Most days, a blue Pearlcatcher can be found there, singing. She sings and your heart breaks. She sings and the birds come, perching on the branches around her, adding their voices to her. She sings, and the ice comes, creeping over feathers, covering the ground in hoarfrost. She sings, and one by one, the birds drop to the ground, motionless. She sings on, alone. Lorelei is a true Pearlcatcher - she claims to be the most beautiful and perfect dragon, and that all others are beneath her. But sometimes it can be lonely on a plinth all by yourself. She has been a member of the clan for a long time, and came seeking shelter and a place to practice her art. The most skilled singer on the entire island, Lorelei has learned to turn her voice into a weapon: capable of leading others astray, obscuring their vision, and even shattering rock. Despite her longtime residency and power, Lorelei seeks no other form of leadership among the clan besides lead singer, teaching those she deems worthy. Her secluded cave is located on the northernmost cliffside of the island, from which her voice can be heard echoing over the waves. Her Rainbow Sprite familiar is . . . well, it's not a bird. But it does fly, and is rather beautiful, if not as beautiful as Lorelei herself. (The sprite was captured at the Waterway, and Marco gave the Sprite to Lorelei as they shared a ornery similar nature.) Luna's pink scarf from her Sprite's Awakening. More recently, she has obtained a Frostbite Hummingbird, from the esteemed Barsenthor's clan. It remains the only bird to hear her singing and remain alive. Her Ice Sprite was bought on Christmas Eve (2014), and promptly decorated the entire castle in snow. The envoy of the Ice Warden seems to have a calming effect on Lorelei's nature, as she finally feels completely appreciated. While still not above the occasional sniping remarks, and possessing all the self importance stereotypical of Pearlcatchers, Lorelei has finally backed down from being outright critical of her clanmates. |
