Biography
Creation Innocent - Loving - Ancient Buried in the ground for eons, she isn't quite sure how to deal with the world as it is, so for now she just enjoys it. Spends much of her time acting like the kid she seems to be. Avid smeller and frolicker. She is good at winning the hearts of all the dragons of the Burrow. Gossa doesn't know what to do about her. Highly destructive force in a teeny, cute package. Trying very hard not to become the horror she vaguely remembers being. |

Diami
"What was once lost will soon be found."
An ancient cave. Undecipherable runes. A story lost in time.
Once upon a time, the Earthshaker created life. As the eldest of all gods, he felt that it was his duty to make a race of dragon more durable than the others. His children, he decided, would be guardians of the earth itself. They would be different from the Windsinger's feather-brained noodles, and different from the Flamecaller's fluffy jellybeans. They would be solemn, powerful, and they would be feared throughout the land. They would be spitting images of the Earthshaker himself. But his first attempt did not go well. When the newly-created dragon first awoke, she was confused and frightened by all around her. Perhaps in an act of defence, perhaps out of fear, she attacked the dragons around her and destroyed them all, for not only had she been gifted with immense strength, she also held devastating power. At first, the Earthshaker saw no wrong in this, for he thought it was good that his children should be so strong, so he left her be. However, as time passed, it became clear that the new creation did not know how to control her power. She terrorised the lands of Dragonhome, wreaking chaos wherever she went. Clans fell to her, and nature itself trembled in her presence. And when she finally threatened the existence of what remained of the World Pillar, the Earthshaker took action. For mortals, the new creation was too much to take on, but despite her massive power, she was still no match for a god. The Earthshaker took her to the Starfall Isles, where the Arcanist resided, and asked what magic there was that could cure her. But there was no magic to cure magic, for indeed, there was no cure then for those who possessed too much power. Reluctant to kill her, and unable to let her go free, the Earthshaker had no choice but to seal away his mistake. He wove powerful spells with the Arcanist, and conjured the most potent runes. He put his creation to sleep and shut her away, hoping that his mistake could be buried by time as his creation was buried beneath the earth.
"Forgive me, my child..."
|
Time passed, the land changed, and history blotted out the story of what once was. But nothing can be buried forever, especially the truth. Though the story of the Earthshaker's mistake was long-forgotten, his creation remained, slumbering in a magical sleep. Within her sleep, she saw a dragon -- one that glowed with a mysterious blue aura. The dragon approached her in her dream, the air around him graced with prismatic ribbons. The creation saw him, and grew afraid. Who are you? Please, leave me alone... The dragon regarded her, his ribbons swirling slowly through the air. "Poor child," he murmured. "Abandoned and unloved by the gods. But do not fear. It is not your destiny to be kept away forever." A long silver ribbon reached out and gently brushed against her, wrapped around her. The creation flinched, then out of curiously, reached out to touch it. There was very little substance, and her claw passed right through. It was a length of light, surrounding her and illuminating the darkness she'd been trapped within. As she watched, the ribbon trailed off into the distance. "When he finds you, you will wake." The dragon before her said before fading, leaving behind a small flame of hope for the one who had been forgotten. "Remember there is someone out there that loves you. Remember, and do not forget." The creation had been buried under one of the spikes of the Crystalspine reach, so that the spells and runes binding her would stay strong with the energy absorbed from the crystals. But not even arcane crystals held an infinite magical reservoir, and so the binds upon the creation grew weak. Soon enough, the bindings could not hold back her magical aura, and this aura attracted the attention of one Guardian seeking his Charge. He dug into the earth, found her, and broke the spells upon her. And she awoke. |

When Diami first woke, her mind was a blank slate. She could not remember anything prior to her wakening, and she was frightened, for she knew nothing. It was her clanmates who raised her, her clanmates who showed her the rights and wrongs that she must know, and her clanmates who made her feel warm and safe again. Loved and cherished by all the members of the Burrow, Diami rapidly adjusted to her new environment, and came to known the lore of all around her. Despite being one of the first members of the Burrow, Diami's body remained unchanged by time. It's still a mystery as to why Diami's growth is frozen, though she herself seems perfectly content with rolling around in the grass and acting like a child (which includes staring at the sun despite being told off again and again). Diami also enjoys smelling things, from flowers to food to other dragons. (And yes, the other dragons are as weirded out as you are.) |
However, though Diami remembers very little of her past, her body itself remains unchanged. There are still seals upon her body that suppresses the enormous quantity of magic within her, and those runic seals are one of the only reasons the End of the World IV hasn't happened yet. Diami herself knows by instinct that something bad will happen once the runes on her body wears off, but the faint remembrance of being trapped underground has made her reluctant to talk about it. But Diami is not selfish, and she has also spoken with the clan oracle, Luna. Luna has predicted what horrible things may fall upon the Burrow if Diami's seal wears off, and Diami has taken it upon herself to find an answer. She has also spoken with Fading and consulted Rune, and has agreed to being resealed underground if the world would be safer that way. So far, though, Fading and her clanmates have encouraged her to learn how to harness the magical energy within her, and to uphold the runic seal. And Diami's fine with the alternative, especially if it gives her more time to simply frolic around and eat pudding. |
|
Magical mindbenders aside, Diami is a fairly active member of the clan, regardless of being a hatchling, and helps out her clanmates whenever she can. Her clan is her family, and she has no qualms about moving mountains for her clanmates if need be, despite being told numerous times that it's unnecessary. Every day is a happy day for Diami, and she's content with her life as it is. Sometimes, Diami has strange dreams. In those dreams, she would see herself, powerful and different, raging upon broken plains that felt strangely familiar. Other times, she would remember a vague blue aura, and hear a soft, melodic voice.
Remember that you are loved.
