This hatchling's half-demon father was determined to control power through his children and, when this hatchling was born with the dark tracery of runes barely seen against his midnight hide, he was immediately seen as a disappointment as weak. Yet Danu saw this and gathered him up with a glare and not a word to why.

Danu explained the reasons for her actions to the hatchling as she gathered a few goods as quickly as she could.

"Your father is too blinded by what he sees as power to understand what he did to you when he planned your hatching on this special night. The Night of the Nocturne has a power all its own and your father's actions have pulled you into it, for this rare ritual also was given to me this night for you to undergo far from this Lair and far from your father's view.

"Your runic ability may be weak, but even the smallest amount of the strongest force will be seen as strong to those who do not understand. You will be seen as failure's blessing, a contradiction in all things as you travel far from here before your father senses your shadow ability.

"You carry my blessing of time-- this rare ritual and a powerful communication stone inscribed with runes so that you will always have someone to talk with and listen to--your mother who loves you and will speak with you as soon as she recovers from the powerful Boon used on her to make sure your nest mates and you were hatched on this particular night."

With that simple explanation this special hatchling was sent on his journey immediately after his hatching. With a blessing, a stone, and a rare personal ritual that is only meant for him. His journey was first to a small fire lair where he learned from Danu's son the true power of the runic script scrolling across his hide.

When he found a new home he took the risk and visited his mother for a few moments outside the lair before moving on to his new home.
