Jīnwū
Timekeeper Every day took an age to go by, which was odd, because days plural went past like a stampede.

Role
 Jīnwū's charge is the sun. Yeah. This means that Jīnwū is possibly the only dragon in the world to justifiably have existential crises about the sun's emotional well-being. Jīnwū is one of Memphis's more frequent clients for this reason, and the papers that he's published on her have seen quite a bit of interest in the psychiatric community. Her charge means that Jīnwū is uniquely qualified for her job as a timekeeper, which she takes very seriously and can track down to milliseconds. No one's told her about the invention of the clock yet - the Lightning dragons in the clan are very careful when speaking to her for this reason. Personality Jīnwū is a huge dragon, on par with the average Imperial. She's got the personality of one, too - extremely dedicated to her job with a tendency for grandiosity. Some great destiny awaits her, obviously, but how does she fulfil it? Does she... does she ask the sun? The fact that her charge is indestructible and a tad out of reach is both reassuring and perplexing for Jīnwū. It's great that she doesn't have to worry about the sun's nutritional status like other Guardians do for their charges, but how is she supposed to communicate? |

Background Looking after a celestial object is hard enough without it also being the object of worship for a large percentage of one's flight. Jīnwū was born on a solar eclipse, a bad omen for Light dragon, and has felt an almost rebellious connection to the sun ever since. Her charge has even overridden the biological need for sleep, and Jīnwū has apparently not needed it since puberty. This Snapper-esque circadian rhythm worried the doctors for a while, but she's apparently healthier than ever. Memphis has wondered if Jīnwū's secretly a Snapper or something, but really, only a Guardian would try to protect the ******* sun. Relationships Jīnwū spends much of the day with magic users who need the exact time for metaphysical purposes. It's difficult to maintain relationships when you have a giant ball of fire in the sky to prioritise, but Primrose understands. The pair of them are one of the few dragons in the clan to be up at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise, sharing breakfast and pointing out details in solar flares today, before they separate into their respective clan roles. Domino is a good friend of Jīnwū's, and the meteorologist makes a point to let Jīnwū know of any sun-obscuring weather she needs to emotionally prepare for. |
