Aeneas was hatched during the dawn of the fourth age, when dragons first appeared and began to populate Sornieth. He was one of three siblings, having an older sister, Medea, and a younger brother: Aetherion. His family was one of the first to inhabit the Fortress of Ends, claiming the now ancient family name of “Khione”, and the title of Lords of Winter. His was the most religiously loyal family to the Icewarden, many of his cousins had decided to become priests or to serve him in some way, since they would never become heirs to the clan.

At one point, when Aeneas was but a youngling, his clan and family’s influence controlled nearly the entirety of the Southern Icefield. They had not only established a dynasty, but created their own little “kingdom”- except, they didn’t call it that. They called it the “Southern Coalition”, and it would be governed by the head of the Khione family: This was Aeneas’ father- a cold, distant dragon. He would subject his own son to brutal training in the most frigid hours of the night. If he could not survive it, he was weak and unworthy of becoming the heir to the pseudo-throne. He would bring dishonor and disgrace, and his little brother would then have to become the Heir.

He failed. Aeneas had completely his training, he had been slaving day and night for years- all just to please his mother and father. He had sacrificed having a relationship with his siblings, and for what? For glory? For honor? No, he failed. He would never have the opportunity. At his coming of age, when he himself would choose a champion to face- to prove he was the rightful heir by then defeating his opponent, he lost. He had chosen his own father. He was not shown mercy. Almost immediately, his family shunned him. Even his brother and sister, refused to speak with him. He had thrown his own hopes and dreams away, just for them, and this was how they thanked him?

____Banished from his clan, he was forced to figure out other ways to live. He decided that he would use his skill with the blade to become a sellsword- a dragon, that would fight for anyone, given they had enough treasure. He joined the Boreal Brotherhood, an organization of travelling sellswords, who fought only for the winning side of whatever battle they were pushed into. Aeneas quickly rose through the ranks, and was eventually the second captain of the company. His best friend, a dragon by the name of Raen was it's first captain, and more like a father figure than his own blood.

____He spent years with the Brotherhood, improving his skills and even teaching them his own tricks. The Southern Coalition was beginning to crumble when across the Icefield, clans started to rebel against the Khione family. War erupted, and Aeneas was forced to face off against his own family in a raid on their home. He wasn’t deaf to his kins’ screams, but he didn’t care. They cast them out, and they would suffer for it. What broke him, was having to fight his own two siblings. Both of them had mates, children- lives. That day, it was the first time he was forced to orphan his own flesh and blood. For that, he would be come to be known as "The Orphaner", even drakes of the Viridian Labyrinth had heard of the tragic Kinslayer.

____She was the love of his life, his dearly beloved, his queen, his light. The ice and the fire dragons had met as her father needed soldiers, as there was a war growing in the mainland of Sornieth. The Great Empire had fallen, and so the world had fallen into chaos. Aeneas was tasked with guarding the princess, a fiery young imperial. In the beginning, they couldn’t tolerate each other- until one evening, Aeneas had accidentally confessed. Their relationship would blossom from there.

____They kept their love a secret, afraid of what Briseis’ father would think of a sellsword and a princess. It tortured them not to be able to show their affection for one another, so they would meet deep in the caverns of the Great Furnace. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched. Briseis’ brother, Chryses, was in love with the Sellsword as well. One night, during the Flameforger’s festival when everyone else was off celebrating, the jealous prince confronted both his sister and the shunned heir. He cursed Aeneas- if he couldn’t have him, no one could. The sellsword watched his love wither and die, he witnessed his best friend fade into another life- all the while, cursed with immortality. The dark magic he was cursed with would force him to live until the end of days, when the lives of the Gods themselves would end.
