Absolute sadist. A very intelligent dragon who has used experimentation to push his alchemy to fantastic new heights. Would probably be more competent if half his 'experiments' weren't really about exercising power over others.

When the Mutating Ice clan came to the Fortress of ends to create a clan, the clan patriarch met Whipwing. Pipseed bought some of the reagents he needed in order to defy nature and pull his clan from the very jaws of death. Payment is that Whipwing be allowed to stay and barter with the clan. This large, old, and malevolent dragon is the face of evil in the clan, and is the individual to go to when you want no questions asked. Hates Harvest for helping DS out from under his control.

Whipwing likes to experiment in the combination and separation of elemental magics, and has 'invented' a certain type of purified element called Null. This is power separated from the elements and Gods. Dragons are incompatible with this energy since their soul is bound to one of the 11 elements. Interesting results are being discovered on how this energy reacts with the beastmen of the clan, and lately he has been looking for more and more warm bodies. Tests are reaching a new frequency in his wing of the caverns.

Whipwing has used Null energy in order to create the Soulless. All dragons need constant energy from their God in order to grow and mature. The Soulless are monstrous creatures of flesh and sinew that are not guided by any God. They are what happens to a dragon when it is separated from the lands of Sorineth. When raw energy is allowed to pool under the skin and fatten the flesh, when a dragon sick with energies it was never built for is forced to lay an egg. That egg is smooth and colorless, obscene in its lack of features. And, that egg feels just as blank metaphysically. The magic within is not guided but sits there inert, does nothing but have its presence known as it buzzes within flesh that grows without an architect.
Whipwing was banished from his old clan for the creation of the Soulless, and all of them destroyed. Cake was the single Soulless that was smuggled out by a beast-clan slave and as such was spared this purge.

Emperors are the forced combination of dissimilar elemental magics and as such are a keen interest to Whipwing. He is willing to trade many things for emperor parts and research.

Keep your familiars and small dragons away because this ridgeback will "borrow" them without a second thought. Baldwin will not allow Whipwing anywhere near his lab after the gruesome longneck incident.....don't ask
