RibbonEel
Grand Couturier

The son of two modestly wealthy Water Merchants, RibbonEel was placed into schooling early. He would be Light scholar, studying the laws and history of the land, or so his parents had hoped. But RibbonEel had no eye for ink or paper, but rather silk and thread. He dropped out of his schooling to learn amongst the lowly tailors and seamstresses, working studiously on perfecting his stichwork and understanding of cloth. Still this was not enough for RibbonEel, he desired more control over the work- to create and design. So he would drool over the daily fashions walking the Mirrorlight Promenade, and secretly create his own patterns and designs under the midnight oil.

He brashness would be his near undoing and his salvation, for after critiquing a high-ranking fashion designer for their lackluster stiching he was tossed out of his job- and picked up by his new patron, AquaMarina, who loved his puck. Finally given the tools and time to express his ideas to cloth, RibbonEel ripped his way into the Light Flight fashion scene. His clothing became one of high demand, and never one to sit on his laurels, RibbonEel work many hours to come up with the new greatest and most wonderful fashion.

Unfortunately, in his obsession for his work he failed to notice the declining health and wealth of his patron. He had noticed that his work had been decreasing in sales, but he had not known the reason and when he found out he was enraged. How dare his patron ruin his career? How dare she ruin his art! He thought to tear her apart till he came to her home and saw her weeping alone in a courtyard. He cursed at his foolishness, and walked away to look for an answer.

The answer would be a letter he had received from his parents about a Water clan that made golden silk from the threads of mussels. He showed the letter to AquaMarina, and together they packed up their possessions and made way to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. He would curse himself again for not doing such a thing sooner, the travel and the inland sea was inspirational- the home he had never known till then. He eagerly worked to become colleagues with OrbWeaver and SeaSilk, the silk weavers, and soon set himself as the “Grand Couturier” of the clan.

Overall, RibbonEel is a passionate, prideful, and creative dragon who values those same qualities in others. He seeks to make the world a more beautiful place with his art, and is willing to commit near rebellion to get what he wants. To some, he may seem arrogant and selfish, but truly he is brilliant and confidant in his abilities.
