|| Kim
Kim did not float, as the others did. He could not bend the wind to his shape, and he could not determine the nuanced way in which the wind shifted for the best flight. He watched the others drift like beautiful petals giddily twirling through strokes of gentle gusts. He had made attempts, at first, to fly alongside them. His large body and his forceful capture of the wind had made the others laugh, trying to guide him in using the wind to carry him, as opposed to hoarding it under his wings. He wobbled in the air, and could not make the wind work for him as it did for the others. But Kim had stopped trying to gain the love of the wind. Though he could not make it work, he had shown the clan his true pride. He constructed homes of bending trees and vines. He had shown his care for nature, as he took care of the clan’s home. He watched the others pass him by, high above the trees, and where he once felt a longing to join them, he had started to settle. He had earned the curiosity of wind-versed dragons as he planted seeds and harnessed the rain into systems that cared for diverse watering. Kim had, despite his eagerness to share nature’s benefits, had not found many too willing to part with their freedom granted by the winds. They pondered how one could be so content on the ground. It was then that Kim had hatched an idea. He had endlessly cared for a large tree. Petals that burst from buds with the sweet summer fragrance. Kim had beamed with delight, his plan coming to fruition in a matter of seasons. And as the summer began to bloom to its fullest, he had broken off low hanging branches and weaved himself a mantle of flowers. Amidst the sweltering summer winds, the others had started to flock to the sight of scattering petals. The younger clan members had started to jump into the flurry of blossoms, whipping their airborne bodies into the stream of petals and squealing with delight. They ran like a river suspended in the wind. As Kim shook the tree branches, the petals plumed like water through the streams of air. He had laughed, encouraging the children to play, and before he had noticed, the clan were waltzing with his flowers, tangled in branches and gleefully spiralling petals around their wind-held bodies. Kim had become overwhelmed with joy. As he was enveloped in flora, petals stuck to his cloak, he laughed and joined in their play, scaling the tree. He had been spoken of, often, even as winter took his petals from him, he wore a piece of summer upon his collar to remind those returning that the tree would grant new life and new play upon them. He laughed as he was pushed by the wind, swallowed by the clan who cherished the comfort of his kindness and energy. And finally, he had felt in his heart, that he belonged.
