OVERVIEW
Ari came to Brightwinter when she was a hatchling, sent with the hope she would find a good home, from an allied clan. She was actually one of the first members of the clan after its re-founding by Glacia and Verrin, the only Imperial of the clan for some time and was raised communally by the founders alongside their son, Dante. From an early age, the young Imperial dragon had a difficult time finding her place in the clan, and upon reaching adulthood she left the glacier to travel and try and find her place in the world, wishing her adoptive brother well as he left to serve the icewarden on the same day. Unlike Dante's unwavering certainty, though Ari did not seem to know where she fit, or what she might wish to do with herself. Her adoptive family were supportive of them both, holding a small feast for the two of them, and the clan bid her farewell with an open invitation to return at any time. But she felt there were mysteries she must seek, and she wished to know more of the history of Imperial dynasties, which Brightwinter clan had lost with Lucan. After some time she did return, and she had in fact found a calling, although her path has been far from clear. Ariadne has become a reader of the stars adn writer of scrolls, and is highly adept at telling the fortunes and fates of other dragons. Her greatest insecurity lies in the fact that she cannot discern her own fate - it lies shrouded and obscured, no matter how hard she looks. Still, makes the best of it, claiming that she is free to live any destiny she likes, no matter how it might bother her deep down. Her endless search is proof of her desire to still discern her fate, as well as the fuel for developing her abilities and using them to help those she can see. Ari's kindness and cleverness are highly valued by the rest of her clan, so much so that they often look to her in moments of uncertainty. She was a natural choice for which dragon should represent the arcane on the new council, even if she sometimes tends to go off without telling anyone on some mysterious quest, she never seems to leave at a bad time, and always arrives back when the clan might have need of her, almost as if she just knows. These trips also often yield unexpected boons for the clan: scroll materials and master copies, new arrivals, information or potential alliances, and as such, the clan & rest of the council have mostly taken a bemused but favorable outlook upon Ariadne's wandering habits. Despite being a 'lost soul' in her own words, Ari is seen by many as a blessing, though she may be a rather capricious one at times. Often her quests leave profound, unpredictable changes for her own life and those connected to her. It was she who returned to the clan with Zeal, one of the first Imperials to join the new Brightwinter clan, and since then the two have become a romantic pair, often venturing around the city together or departing on journeys and raising a clutch of hatchlings or two together - be it their own, or adopted. She has also recently kindled a relationship with Linden, with the support of both she and Zeal. Their love is still in the early stages as Linden settles into the clan, their supportive friendship flowering into something more along the way. It is a poorly kept secret that Ariadne wishes to learn how to inscribe Imperial scrolls, or at least further understand why the magic seems to be cut off from doing so. She hopes to circumvent the knowledge no longer Illuminated by the Lightkeeper with her own arcane studies and abilities. However, much like her own fortunes, this magic lies lost in obscurity for the time being. AWAKENED FAMILIARS wishlist: GALLERY fullbody by Kiwira |
