IARI
Adviser
Difficulties help us define our core goal and quit the habits that keep us from reaching it.

A long time ago, a small clan existed made up strictly of only Arcane dragons, native to the Starfall Isles. This clan chose to hate dragons of all other variety and they had strict laws that left only a small amount of room for freedom among the clan members. Things such as having a certain amount of hatchlings, leaving the Isles, choosing your own mate, and having friends outside of the clan were all forbidden. Parents were harsh on their hatchlings, teaching them to unquestioningly follow the leaders of the clan and to keep quiet and obedient - like a good dragon would.

Iari, a son of one of the leaders, was being trained to eventually take over a section of said clan. His future looked bright, in the words of his father. Iari's mother often reminded him of how luck he was that he had everything laid out at his feet. "There are vast libraries, wide open skies, endless possibilities.. All at your finger tips. Not everyone here is so lucky as you," she would tell him. But, of all of the luck that he had been supposedly granted, none of it helped him with the one thing he really wanted. No ammount of luck in the world could get his father to allow him be with the young lady he'd become affectionate for.

While he was forbidden from talking to "someone below his level," Iari had fallen in love with a girl named Illyen. She had everything he wished he had and everything the clan was so against - imagination, determination, independance. She was beautiful in so many different ways. Her mind was gorgeous; and Iari felt so drawn to it.

But, everything changed one day, when Iari found out that the leaders were planning on brainwashing Illyen to force her to be cooperative. He'd overheard his parents discussing it casually, like it were just another day. How could they do something like that? How could they possibly think about damaging someone and removing their own free will like that? Especially when someone so beautiful and innocent was involved.

Iari felt panicked. He had to do something.

That very night, he slipped out of his nest after making sure his parents had fallen asleep and he'd headed towards Illyen's nest. He had it all planned out - he would wake her and he would help her leave. She had to get away. But, apparently she was a few steps ahead of him. By the time Iari got half-way to her nest, he had overheard a commotion coming from the guards. They were trying to capture an escaping Illyen. She fought back them bravely, knowing she could wind up dead, and did everything dragonly possible to flee.

Unable to just sit around and watch, the young boy sprang into action. Despite how afraid he was, he knew it was the right thing to do. He dove into the fight without hesitation, helping to keep the guards off Illyen until she had the perfect chance to take off. But, Iari didn't plan on sticking around. When she was clear of the guards, he took off on her heels. He had no idea where she was planning to go, but he knew staying wasn't an option. Using his vast knowledge he'd picked up from the maps and books and scrolls found in the library, Iari led her safely through the Starfall Isles and around the boarders of the Scarred Wastelands, eventually reaching Dragonhome, where they both got some rest before starting their adventures.

Iari and Illyen picked up new friends and foes along their journey as they travelled across the world. They came into contact with all sorts of cultures and Iari made sure to learn as much as he possibly could from each one of them, using all of the information he gathered to help keep Illyen safe; and, eventually, using that information to finally lead her back home to the Starfall Isles. The old clan they had escaped had apparently been disbanded and the two of them - with a couple of newfound friends - made a new home in the Isles.

While Iari was unsure of how Illyen felt about being back in the isles, he felt finally at ease being able to relax and put down some roots. Though, he was sure their adventures were far from over.

Iari is a very quiet dragon who almost always has his nose in a book or a scroll or in some cauldron. His favorite pass-time tends to be along the lines of "gathering information" and learning about all sorts of new things. that being said, he tends to not have any free time in his endless search to answer all of his questions, and finds that he has absolutely nothing in common with anyone if they aren't as addicted to books as he is. This makes it difficult for Iari to make any sort of meaningful relationships with anyone.

Despite these difficulties, he is well-mannered (if not a bit stiff), and most dragons can't find a reason to dislike him. Being fairly knowledgeable and intuitive, Iari has an uncanny ability to turn into people's rock when they most need it and finds that people often lean on him for advice more-so than anyone else.

His best quality, according to those in his clan, is his keen intuition. In addition to his vast book-smarts, Iari's intuition has greatly helped out those in need. Many dragons have commented that they're surprised a Tundra dragon like himself could have such a great amount of knowledge. In truth, Iari keeps several journals and re-reads books and scrolls hundreds if not thousands of times. His end-goal is to be useful to Illyen.

29165272p.png Iari has always been fond of Illyen for as long as he could remember. But, due to the circumstances in their old clan, they didn't become close until after leaving the Starfall Isles. Even though he has strong feelings for her, Iari is content just being in her company and helping her wherever she needs help, most especially concerning her new clan. Iari somehow became her Adviser, a position he assumes was given to him simply due to the fact that Illyen is too prideful to ask anyone else for advice.
29166740p.png While Nekaia is closer to Antigone than anyone else, Iari has become quite close to her due to how much they have in common. Just for starters, they both absolutely love books and studying new things. They both love learning. The two of them often get into very long debates (that, sometimes, last for DAYS) that the others can scarcely understand. Even though she hails from the Ice flight, like Antigone, Nekaia has always felt like a true Arcanian to Iari.
It's almost as if he's known her his whole life.
26783576p.png Another book lover, Darma had become one of Iari's favorite dragons to spot. Despite not knowing much about her or where she even came from, Illyen had accepted Darma - who'd just stumbled across their clan by accident - into their fold and entrusted her with a lead Arcanist position. Iari had somehow then come into the responsibility of making sure Darma had everything she needed for the job, giving him the chance to talk semi-often with her. While still largely a mystery, Iari absolutely loves discussing the arcane arts with her among many, many other things.
29001771p.png Nariene initially came to assist the new-found clan with setting up their lair and give Iari a run-down on the basic clan-set-up. She offered him some valuable insight using her previous clan's hierarchy, food and materials distributions, laws and regulations, and the different types factions within the clan to help give Iari a decent list of things he could propose to Illyen for the growth of the clan. Somehow, Nariene ended up a permanent part of the clan. Rather than there being an official welcome, she just never ended up leaving, and Illyen seemed content with allowing her to be part of Iari's crew seeing as the two work so nicely together.
