Biography

unknown.png by Gwythaint
Ammut - Female demon in ancient Egyptian religion with a body that was part lion, hippopotamus and crocodile—the three largest "man-eating" animals known to ancient Egyptians. A funerary deity, her titles included "Devourer of the Dead", "Eater of Hearts", and "Great of Death".
Ammit lived near the scales of justice in Duat, the Egyptian underworld. In the Hall of Two Truths, Anubis weighed the heart of a person against the feather of Ma'at, the goddess of truth, which was depicted as an ostrich feather (the feather was often pictured in Ma'at's headdress). If the heart was judged to be not pure, Ammit would devour it, and the person undergoing judgement was not allowed to continue their voyage towards Osiris and immortality. Once Ammit swallowed the heart, the soul was believed to become restless forever; this was called "to die a second time". Ammit was also sometimes said to stand by a lake of fire. In some traditions, the unworthy hearts were cast into the fiery lake to be destroyed. Some scholars believe Ammit and the lake represent the same concept of destruction.
Was not worshipped; instead she embodied all that the Egyptians feared, threatening to bind them to eternal restlessness if they did not follow the principle of Ma'at.
Ammut has never been judged as being kind or goodly. That simply has never been her role in life. After all, she was born to be the Devourer of Hearts. The Eater of Souls. Who would think that a goodly creature? Her current mate, apparently.
Her current mate within the Clan is Tulpa. He tends to be quiet and what others make of him. Which means that he is most often good and soft spoken. His looks lead people to believe that is what he is and so it is who he is most of the time. How boring. This soft spoken male is grating on her nerves. Badly. He isn't worthy of her or to be the father of her children. Not really.
So Ammut has taken matters into her own hands. She prayed. Hard and loudly. A God from another clan has heard her: Rakyth. He's a lovely creature and certainly seems more worthy. Her desire for children worthy of her is great. Great enough to give this deity something of hers? An evil smile curves the female's lips. Oh, certainly. What are a few hundred hearts and souls to her? She has plenty.
The Bogsneak female's tail whips back and forth. There is enough force in her movements that the tip of her tail sounds very much like a whip cracking with each swing. She's quite pleased with herself. Quite pleased indeed.
Green eyes look to her plush bed and she smirks. Tulpa can still be found about her rooms from time to time. Not nearly as often as he once was. It seems he has taken the hint that he is not wanted as much. How interesting that he picked that up just from the return of the male Skydancer.
Rakyth came back to the Clan. He had returned to wherever it was that he'd been calling home once they'd had their three eggs hatch. The eggs had hatched, she sent the Hatchlings off into the world to prove their worth, and Rakyth had left. That is what the deal had been. Then... Well, he returned. He's dosing even now.
A smirk plays along her lips. She's feeling quite proud of herself at the moment. Quite proud indeed. She has been hard at work making Ra miserable. Even as he hibernates.
The male Mirror had been unhappy with his coloring. To be frank, everyone had been unhappy with how much an eyesore he had been. Those wings of his just would not do. So Mother Rashtlin had bought him a scroll to change his colors... but Ammut had tampered with it. She laughs lowly to herself. He had ended up even worse than he started! Mother Rashtlin was gifted a second scroll... which was also tampered with. She very nearly didn't hold her laughter in when he again did not improve in coloring.
End of her tail flicking back and forth, an evil grin graces her features. The great and mighty Ra indeed.
