The Bogsneak boy was bred to be beautiful. As were his siblings, and his parents, and all of the other members of his birth clan. His clan produced dragons that were beautiful, elegant, courteous, and intelligent, and he was no exception. His rich colors and shimmering scales always caught a customer's eye, and by the time the dragon reached adolescence he knew how to read the classics, play the violin, prepare and drink a proper cup of tea, spar against another dragon in a fencing match, and could sit through an entire dinner party while making polite small talk and always using the correct silverware. All of these skills, of course, had been trained into him since hatching in preparation for prospective customers adopting him and making him part of their clan. It was considered an honor to be accepted into another clan, proof that their good breeding made them desirable. When the Bogsneak hatchling was placed in the Auction House, he expected to be bought by a wealthy clan where he would be pampered and allowed to indulge in whatever classical pastimes he preferred, just as other hatchlings from his birth clan had been. Perhaps he would become a philosopher, or a musician, or perhaps a courtesan to nobility or even royalty.

When he was adopted by the Clan of Roaring Waters, he quickly realized that he would not live this sort of life here. Brady (as he had been named) was brought to the clan as a "companion" or sorts for Tagalog, in the hopes that the prickly, reclusive Bogsneak girl would open up more if she had a friend who was born a Bogsneak like her. While Brady could handle an arranged betrothal to another dragon - something his training had prepared him for - Tagalog was a far cry from the elegant nobles he had expected to serve. Even worse for Brady, while Tagalog tolerated him enough she was uninterested in developing deeper relationships with him. Thoroughly unprepared for life in this clan, Brady is nevertheless determined to succeed and bring honor to his family - somehow. He would shame his bloodline otherwise.

B I O G R A P H Y

While Brady would have been content just being Tagalog's mate/companion/whatever their relationship was, the Clan of Roaring Waters was the type of clan where everyone worked, regardless of status or bloodline or appearance. It wasn't easy for Brady to find a job. All of the jobs that he had been trained to do - advisor, scholar, musician, librarian - were already filled by other dragons, and Brady wasn't capable of the physical labor required for foraging and battling.

Brady discovered his own role by accident while having tea with Lola. After taking a single sip, he not only recognized the tea as the Smoky Foxfire blend favored by high Shadow society, he also could pick out Lola's variations to it (brewing it stronger than usual and adding a teaspoon of honey). Brady's aristocratic upbringing had given him a great understanding of tea, and Lola encouraged him to share his gift with the clan. Brady is the reason tea has become popular in the Clan of Roaring Waters. Not only can be brew up different teas from all over Sornieth on demand, he also experiments with his own variations and blends. Brady can turn even Satsuma's bitterest herbal medicines into fragrant teas, and he is currently working with Fiera to grow plants from other flights in her gardens so he can use them in his teas.

Brady himself is a gentle soul. Quiet and soft-spoken, his upbringing has taught him to be polite in every situation, and Brady always has a kind smile and a compliment for everyone. He does balk at physical labor, dirt, and coarse, slobbish behavior, which his upbringing never prepared him for. Brady is friendly with most dragons in the clan, though he does tend to avoid the louder, more energetic ones. Brady can be vain about his appearance, often spending over an hour in front of the mirror polishing his scales and adjusting his clothing. His favorite hobbies are reading, painting, and writing poetry. Brady has started a book club with the clan's other bibliophiles, including Thistlepuff, Prince, Nadia, and Bubbles. As for Tagalog, she and Brady know each other better now, and get along well. Brady can be seen sitting comfortably in silence with Tagalog while she shapes a clay pot, and the two of them share a pot of tea from time to time. They're not so much mates as friends with benefits, but Tagalog will slip into Brady's room when she's stressed - his room is very fragrant from all of the dried tea plants, and Brady is one of the few who understand her need for quiet and solitude.
