When Cwen entered Aster Company, she was just a manager, albeit a beautiful manager with a penchant for leadership. So when Xemaat offered to make her the leader-- and not just a leader, an Empress, a Queen-- Cwen readily accepted. She oversaw Aster Company dutifully. She was just, but upheld the law with an iron claw. Fortunately for the dragons of the clan, most were too busy with their research to break the law, so Cwen ruled from her throne with Aurex, her consort, and Xemaat, her advisor.
Cwen appointed Malavik, her son, as her successor. Her greatest challenge was trying to get him to accept the position seriously... Or to be serious. Or to accept the position. Malavik's instruction consumed most of her time... which was probably why she didn't see the uprising coming. The chemists declared independence, and without the income from the chemistry department, Aster Empire crumbled, and its Empress descended into madness and depression.

Without an empire, there was no need for an empress. Cwen fled from her old home, from the crackling sound of electricity on the craggy deserts and endless teal sky. She flew southward, across the Shfting Expanse. Her wings beating with the rhythm of her jagged heart.
