Regulus was an enchanter. His gem-formed scales glittered with potent magic, shimmering every time he used it. Regulus was rarely seen as a Pearlcatcher too. A century ago, he had discovered a spell to shift him to any breed of dragon he desired, limited at the ancient breeds. Their own magic was separate from the shared incarnates of modern breeds, too ancient and forgotten to even start to learn.

With each different breed brought forth different abilities and skills, or more power and strength. A measly Pearlcatcher becoming a huge imperial, or a ferocious Ridgeback. A Fae had it's benefits too; a tiny body allowed him to get into tight spaces, wiggle into small nooks that sometimes meant he could hide from enemies or opponents. Mirrors had double the eyes, double the range of which he could see. That form was good for combat. Even Wildclaws, with their thickly muscled hind legs that let them run up to much faster speeds than any other breeds, and leap into the air to slash at their prey.

He liked many of the breeds for their own skills, but the guardian was by far his favourite. The magnificent beard, the huge bulky figure that even intimidated the toughest of dragons. He could get his way with this spell alone. And one of these days, he would figure out the magic of the ancient breeds, and become a Gaoler.
His utmost desire.
