Morpheus is the former general of Olympia's military after Athena. Hera's family wanted him to extend his power and attack a nearby berserker village and while he did, he found a prisoner he did not want to kill. It was a hatchling Nocturne male, abandoned by his captors. His orders were to have no prisoners of war but he took the hatchling and hid him in his cloak on the way back to Olympia.
Named Castor, the hatchling lived in secret with Moprheus for years before he was discovered by a soldier while Morpheus attended an urgent meeting in the middle of the night. Understanding his life was in danger, Castor fled and ran into a dragon creeping in the shadows. Recognizing the battle gear of the legendary Nocturne assassin Mania, he pleaded with her to help him escape the city. After agreeing, the pair went in search of Morpheus and Shimmer.
Morpheus became a teacher in Hyperion's Academy because of his superior knowledge, battle skills, and small magic abilities he mysteriously inherited, and his students are quick to learn the politics of the real world, battle history, and the importance of having mercy.
