Ametrine is a perfectly ordinary dragon. There's nothing strange or glitchy about him at all. When it comes to his... unique bloodline, he considers himself lucky to have avoided the usual effects.

...Okay, his markings are kind of blocky and unnatural looking. If you squint. Maybe. And sometimes he sparks a bit. But that's to be expected! He's a Lightning dragon. And books can be staticky, all right?

Buried in books is exactly where Ametrine would like to be. He might not want anything to do with weird powers himself, but it's still fascinating to study. He can at least try to understand the why of it without it directly affecting him, right?

Right...?

The problem is, when a Fae is hit by a falling bookshelf, what you are supposed to get is a squished Fae. Not an undignified squeak, a flash of light (now the books are crumpled AND scorched, nice one) and a traumatised but utterly unsquished Fae several hundred miles from where he's supposed to be.

Finding himself on a random island in the middle of nowhere, there are still at least three things he's sure of.
  • It's better than being flattened.
  • He's never, ever doing that again.
  • Turns out random hermit island has a pretty decent library. Well, okay, it's more of a pile of abandoned scrolls. But it COULD be a library if someone were to put in the effort....
