"Nier never travels far." -- Nyx

Nyx (Charge) |
Assistant Gardener |
Whend he was very small, wandering the ever green forests of the Gladekeeper Nier stumbled upon something quite strange even among the abundant life of the forest. He found a Grove of mushrooms, glowing bright blue in dim murky patch of woods that had fallen and died. The fungi thrived on the decomposing matter that it nestled in, and it's vibrant colors called to the hatchling. His first mistake was to walk among them, their phosphorescent spores releasing into the air all around him in a magical display of color.
Then, he had the idea to taste them and bite into the strange colored shrouds for a guardian dragon's diet had few restrictions and his appetite had even fewer. The fungus flesh was actually quite delichousing, so he ate his fill and became drowsy and content. Nier laid down in the cool shady grove and fell asleep for a while among the gently pulsing light that the fungi gave off.
When Nier awoke, he felt as if he had slept for a very long time, perhaps a little too long. He felt groggy and ached, but it was a distant feeling. When he stood he was standing on legs that felt different, not entirely his, but familiar. He was... taller, and larger than he remembered being. His scales had a bit of a glow, pink and blue veins crawled up his dark skin.
Something had changed drastically within him, and he was surrounded by yet more fungi than he had remembered as a hatchling. In fact the mushrooms had found their way onto his back and under his skin. Something reassured him that he was safe. That he was better. Another voice in his mind; many voices in fact, told him to rest a while longer, because he was almost ready to leave this place and journey anew.
The little voices whispered that he would be alright. And so he was, and so he did as they told him for many years, living in solitude and peacful contentment with a colony on his back and within his body until he met a dragon named Viridin. The wildclaw knew well of symbiotic plants and parasitic plants having a few of his own on his shoulders. He coaxed the lumbering beast to join his garden at Dark Ryse should such a rare specimen hope to continue to thrive in a world where the unknown or the misunderstood was quickly destroyed out of ignorance.
Neir contineed obeying orders, that of Viridin and that of the colony. That is... until he found his Charge. He saw her from afar, and on his own accord followed her and her companion for some time. He saw them steal from the beast clan camp, and when they were attacked by the warriors that caught them. For the first time in a very long time he felt alive and sprang into action with energy he did not know he had. He was a dragon again for a moment, bellowing his anger at beasts who sought to harm two little spiral dragons huddled in a tight space, injured and starving.
