How fast did a forest's heart beat? Once a year, maybe.

Role

All Imperials have that one thing they're completely obsessed with, and for Sigrun it's gardening. Her 'garden' is the huge pine forest surrounding the Manor, which provides many of the clan's insect and plant resources. Sigrun doesn't look like a very down-to-earth dragon with her love of jewels and fashion, but this graceful lady can mulch an acre without getting a speck of dirt on herself. She likes to remind the clan that just because she's an Earth dragon, doesn't mean she has to be covered in it. Sigrun is invaluable in battling due to her quick movements and ability to command and control earthquakes, an exceedingly useful talent when you're surrounded by precarious ruins.

Personality

Like many Earth dragons, Sigrun has a severe case of Older is Better. Besides an intense dislike of change and penchant for prehistoric ferns, she is also adept at ferreting out suspicious newcomers. All new clan recruits go through her first (only 35% make it through unscathed, Em has a spreadsheet) before they can even think about meeting the vulnerable little ones. Her strictness is not limited to suspicious outsiders, though. Sigrun has utterly perfected the 'I'm-very- disappointed-in-you' expression, which has reduced hatchling misbehaviour by more than 80% (Em has more spreadsheets). Her official title is Gardener, but every permanent resident of the Manor knows her as Grandmother.

Background

The clan's second oldest dragon doesn't sound as impressive as the oldest. Nevertheless, Sigrun has that air of maturity common to Earth dragons, so for wisdom and advice dragons prefer Sigrun over her mate. The elders turns to Sigrun for disciplinary and political matters - her experience in bureaucratic manoeuvring is second to none, and she encounters a wide variety of dragons in clan interviews and inter-clan relations. Sigrun's youth in the labyrinthine mines of Dragonhome has made her nimble and agile, and provided ample experience in navigating her dense, dark forest.

Relationships

Sigrun and Emilio are the only Imperials in the clan (unless you count Sherbet, and nobody ever does), and both of them treasure the other's company. Sigrun makes fun of Emilio's constantly changing professions, but is secretly very proud of him for taking up everything and anything that interests him. Sigrun's forest is where the pair of them live the majority of the time since the Manor is not yet big enough to accommodate Imperials, and their hatchlings only emerge from the trees to meet their fellow clan members when they're a few weeks old. She is a figure of authority for most clan members, though she does enjoy a good tea party with the girls every now and then.
