Kamine, the first dragon of the Clan of Odds & Ends and, therefore, the Clan Founder. Kamine stands as the second commander and leader of the clan, just behind his brother dragon Katsuji, the Clan Head. Should Katsuji ever step away from the clan, perhaps to gather or to fight in the Coliseum, Kamine takes charge during his absence. Kamine typically rests by perching on Katsuji's tail. If Kamine is not found near his brother dragon, he is most likely off conversing with other members of the clan. Every dragon in the clan holds Kamine in high regards and gives him his/her/their upmost respect. Kamine, to this day, remains the strongest Mage dragon out of the entire clan as his internal reserves are uniquely vast [unlike the smaller reserves that the Fae breed are commonly known for].

Kamine, the quiet Second Commander. Kamine stands as the second Leader of the clan, just behind his brother dragon Katsuji, the Clan Head and first Leader. Should Katsuji ever step away from the clan, perhaps to gather or to fight in the Coliseum, Kamine takes charge during his absence. A little known fact to outsiders of the clan is that while Katsuji may hold the title as Clan Head, Kamine lays claim to the status of Clan Founder, having been the first dragon of this clan. Kamine typically rests by perching on Katsuji's tail. If Kamine is not found near his brother dragon, he is most likely off conversing with other members of the clan. Every dragon in the clan holds Kamine in high regards and gives him his/her/their upmost respect. Kamine, to this day, remains the strongest Mage dragon out of the entire clan as his internal reserves are uniquely vast [unlike the smaller reserves that the Fae breed are commonly known for].

Due to an encounter with an Emperor, he gained an odd sort of ability: the power to peer into a dragon and see the unique manifestation of a dragon's heart. Each dragon reportedly has a distinctive heart, even in the case of two dragons with identical genes, colors, gender, and breed. However, on one occasion, Kamine mentioned the possibility of an extremely rare exception to this principle rule. Despite a number of attempts from the other clan members to clarify further, Kamine will not elaborate any more on the matter. The soft sigh he gives every time another dragon mentions the topic remains the only sign of acknowledgement from him.

Kamine once had Contour as his Tertiary Gene. However, an odd incident occurred overnight. There had been no witnesses to the event; However, the early risers reported finding a visibly shaken Kamine. It was... "as if he had seen a ghost". Investigations are still ongoing on whether or not the incidents are linked.

Kamine adores music. Additionally, his ability lets him see various images and feel emotions vividly that are infused within a particular melody. Kamine's fondness for music may be the reason Katsuji is almost always humming some sort of tune despite the Clan Leader's lackluster talent. Kamine hosts most of the lair-only weekly music nights and quietly helps others who are also inclined toward the musical field. When asked what instrument he favors, he responds with a conducting baton.

Update: As of September 25, 2019, a Mantarune is determined to be Kamine's permanent familiar. A name for the Mantarune is still being determined, but it seems to be responding to Satoi.

During a trip to the Kelp Beds, Kamine saw a glimmer in the distance. While he managed to avoid it, the glimmer found him again on a subsequent trip and followed Kamine home. This particular Mantarune is sometimes seen wrapping its fins playfully around the Fae or helping resolve anxiety among the hatchlings by carrying the young dragons along its back for a gentle ride.

____They say hindsight always has perfect vision. Looking back on that day now, so long yet so painfully close to the emotions he struggles to convey, he sees the wisdom in those words. Yet, he feels... a sort of inevitability, though that may not be the best way to describe this feeling. Take, for example, the idea in which he could re-experience the entire event once more, simply for the mere chance to change course, he feels that nothing would have changed at all. And perhaps, that may be the most regrettable thing, knowing the present leaves far too quickly and yields only the past for him remember.

____The grass crunches softly beneath your feet. Before you flows a gentle waterfall, guarded by two enormous animal statues marked with the symbols for the two Flights. The resulting river digs through the land to mark the border. It will be your first time traversing this place. Excitement. Then, behind you, you hear your brother pause as he goes oddly quiet.

____"What's wrong, brother?" You turn, watching your brother turn his head sporadically, every which way.

____The other dragon hesitates, slowly backing away from river. "This place radiates an awful feeling." His next words are lined with anxious fear. "We must leave."

____You look back at the river briefly, eager to explore, but the undeniable tension in your brother's shoulders convinces you to follow him back. You are reluctant, but the trust you have in the older dragon overrides your sense of adventure. 'Another time.'You chant to yourself. 'Another time, Brother will take me back here.' You leave the clearing after him, turning to focus on calming him even as nervousness begins to pool at the pit of your stomach.

____Hours tick by when you finally begin to feel it. Your attempts at trying to get your brother to relax end only in failure, but now you begin to sense why. Indeed, there is this terrible feeling that hangs in the air. It seems to encompass everything. You notice the environment around you has begun to dim, crawling towards a colorless gray as if the very essence of the world is being leeched out. You stick closer to your brother, trying desperately to understand what is happening. His tail curls around you and he shields you between his wings. What seems like hours pass by, yet the sun above hardly even moves. Suddenly, your brother tenses. The sky blackens, coloring everything around you gray. That feeling is absolutely suffocating.

____The ground shakes violently as cracks form, a thundering boom threatening to destroy your hearing.

____You can hardly see.

____A growl emerges from your brother.

____Then, a deafening roar, followed closely by ten near-identical ones.

____Fear.

____In front towers an Emperor.

____That word plays over and over and over and over in your head. Even from afar, an oppressive feeling presses down on you and the fear latches deeper into your mind. Your body trembles, unable to stop its shaking while soreness begins to seep into your muscles. The injury on your head throbs, but the gaping trench in your heart aches immeasurably. You barely recognize yourself anymore. Thoughts drag you back towards you brother... He-

____You are alone now, surrounded only by the plains of the Zephyr Steppes. You take a step forward, incapable of flight in this horrible condition, but you don't get very far. Trying for another step, your vision wobbles.

____All to quickly, exhaustion mixes with pain and overwhelms every part of you. Gray melts into pitch black. Perception stops, your headache spikes, your mind twists and folds in on itself.

____Away. The last of your senses shut down as you silently drift away from the world.

A yukata wraps around the edges, layered under an elaborate haori. Loosely tied by a haori himo, the string decorated by a dazzling elemental gem. Cords draped elegantly, securing a mysterious map. What looks like a lantern dangles from the side, and slightly singed bamboo hide behind. A hand reaches out, a delicate nudge. - - - - -

____A thought... reaching for you. Desperately, you grasp for it. Almost... almost-!

____The days right after remain a blur to him. Only the feeling of something different, off-center, persisted. He awoke to no injuries, yet an unknown energy thrummed through him. A part of him felt lost, shredded away in search of oblivion. His sight overlaid with a sort of hyper-awareness. Later, he understood. The manifestation of a dragon's heart. Time had sluggishly edged by before he began to understand the technicalities of his new ability, as he built the clan his late brother and him had longed for. And his clan grew, piecing over the gap that had been left behind.
