Biography

| TAU | [♫] Last Man Standing
{ Exaltation Specialist | He/Him | Gay }

Tau is the lone survivor of a clan that once served under the Lightweaver. In exchange for exaltees, She granted the clan good fortune, abundant resources, and Her favor. Once in a long while, She would descend from the Beacon and speak with the clan’s elders. Then She would choose a dragon from among their people, and they would send the chosen one into Her grace.

When Her eyes fell upon Tau, however, the clan elders hesitated. He was the son of one of the clan’s wealthiest, most prestigious, most beloved families. Forcibly exalting him would strain their relationship with his mother and father, and that was something they knew the clan could not afford. Seeking a compromise, they begged the Lightweaver to choose another, even going so far as to offer their own children to Her for the sake of the clan.

She took their refusal as blasphemy, and so their lives and the lives of their people were forfeit.

Tau was left alive, to guide future exaltees down the path he was meant to walk. It is a cruel irony, that the child the Lightweaver chose to come into Her grace must now send others into it, but he cannot refuse Her. Loyally, or perhaps fearfully, he obliges Her every whim.

Or so it was, until he met Copernicus.

When the Lightweaver asked him of Tau, Tau refused her, as his people once had on his behalf. He loved his mate too deeply to betray him, whether through force or trickery; he loved Copernicus in a way he had never loved the Lightweaver, and Her heart was inflamed with jealousy. Their pact once more broken, the Lightweaver stole Tau's wings from him, but allowed him to keep Copernicus by his side.

Tau misses his wings from time to time. It is doubtful he will ever fly again without aid; no magic known to dragonkind can recall his wings from the Lightweaver's possession. He maintains that it was a trifling sacrifice. He would defy Her again for Copernicus and gave his wings to Her willingly.

Exalting Tau to the service of the Lightweaver will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
