THE DIVINER
|
It's said that the Stardust Scholar that follows this dragon came to her in a series of dreams, all of which drew her into the Crystalspine Reaches of the isles. It was here, she tells, tucked gently into a crack at the base of crystal and soaked partway through with sea water, that she found the Scholar's scroll. She recalls being enchanted by the runes that wound round the paper, and found herself drawn to not only take it, but protect it. The true nature of the scroll was revealed when it burst out of her bag and, slowly, there came the form of some strange, arcane creature whom pledged its life to her for its unknowing rescue.
Feeling indebted to the dragon for saving it, the creature showed the clanless wanderer a vision in her dreams -- far to the western shores of the Arcanist's realm, deep in the forests of the Starwood Strand, Jupiter would find sanctuary.
Sanctuary, as she found it, came in the way of a modestly sized Arcane clan, welcoming of dragons from all walks of life. The clan had made its home in a large cave system that branched out far below the earth. Clearly dragon-made, the caves included massive chunks of minerals found while they had been clearing the land, the rooms lit by lanterns of strange and beautiful purple fire. In decoration, the clan seemed keen on collecting things brought from faraway lands -- later, Jupiter would come to learn that all dragons must bring a small offering from their homeland before joining, in the spirit of well-traveled collection.
The clan, although a bit wary of the unannounced stranger in their midst, recognized her familiar as a servant to the Arcanist; it was with the realization that the arcane servant followed her, loyally and willingly, that they welcomed her into their home.
The dragons of the clan quickly found Jupiter and her Scholar a great asset in their ability to guide their endeavors, predicting the outcome of the clan's actions through the visions of the Scholar, passed onto Jupiter in her dreams and then voiced to the clan's leaders. Though young, she is wise and quick-witted, skilled in deciphering the oftentimes vague and cryptic visions given by the Scholar. Not only this, but Jupiter has proved great skill in mediation, easily settling disputes between fellow clan-members and members of rival clans alike. These attributes combined have proven her place on the council well-earned. |
