______ Sparks has been lonely for a very long time. He was sure he had loved someone once. Yes... he was quite sure he had. The only thing he could really remember of her though was the colour of her eyes. They were hazel, like chestnuts. You see, Sparks is not an ordinary dragon. He may not be the oldest, or the wisest, but he loved, god, did he love.

When he was a young dragon, barely older than a hatchling, he left his lair so he could find a new one. A place he felt he would belong, and raise a nest of his own. He was brave and foolish then, so caught up in his own world, oblivious to his mortality. Very few young dragons are aware of how vulnerable they are. This is the curse of youth it seems.

After many weeks travelling, he came across a place he had never seen before. It was the Shifting Expanse, and it bordered the Sunbeam ruins, his birth place. He had never seen anything like it. The dry wasteland was so different from bright forests he played in as a hatchling. He travelled by night, cautious of this new place, afraid of what he might find there. After three days of travel, his bravery got the better of him, and he dared venture out during the day to navigate the wasteland. He travelled for a further four days, spending each minute admiring the vast expanse around him, and listening to the distant crackle of electricity. His eighth day in this new place arrived, and with it came the storm.

It began with the wind. It blew in from the west, so fierce and strong that he felt like he would be torn to pieces by it. He remembered after a moment that he was indeed a spiral. His slender body was made for winds such as these, so he rose into the air and took flight.

It was much more comfortable moving with the wind rather than against it, and he felt for a moment that he would be okay, but all of a sudden it began to rain. It came in sheets, so thick that he could hardly see two feet in front of his face. He flew through the air, or rather tumbled, unsure at this point exactly where he was going, or how far above the ground he actually was. The sound of the rain pounding against his scales was so loud, he could barely hear the thunder echoing high above him. This went on and on until he was exhausted, with barely enough energy left to keep him in the sky. It almost seemed like all hope was lost as he fought his way through the pummelling rain, when all of a sudden there was a deafeningly loud crack, and everything went white.

When he opened his eyes, everything was glaringly bright, and he squinted as his eyes adjusted to the light. After a long few moments, he was finally able to see again, and the first thought that entered his mind was just how much he ached all over. He felt like he had been dipped in ice water, and he was cold and tingly all over.
After a moment, his eyes met a pair of chocolate brown one. He thought briefly to himself that they were very pretty, and saw after a second that they belonged to another spiral. She was white all over, and wore a green scarf around her neck.
