xxxxxThe master of disaster, Wraith is the founder of the clan. A spiral with unending curiosity and completely lacking a moral compass. He has destroyed the lair more than once in his thirst for knowledge. Wraith would summon the Shade itself if it enabled him to further study and understand it. He sees the members of his clan as willing test subjects and helpful scholars. After all, Wraith has used himself for experimentation more than once. This has resulted in plentiful scarring and a need for numerous wraps to keep his injuries healing or hidden. Unfortunately he can't use himself for studies often anymore, he's not so stable, and some of the old wounds do fester. Perhaps he's just getting older.
Do to his chaotic nature Wraith often creates disasters and he would be dead if not for the guardian, Auria, that found him after a particularly disastrous experiment. None in the clan where there for the experience. It was during Wraith's younger days after leaving the Arcanist's side. All the rest of the clan has ever known is the guardian at the spiral's side.
As Auria tells it she had been searching for her charge, and the moment she saw the spiral she knew she had found her calling. She fails to mention that she saw him sailing through the air, on fire and laughing about some victory. Thankfully she was able to put out the flames for without that the clan would not exist today. Since then she has guarded him, kept him safe as best as she can, despite his numerous attempts to get himself maimed or killed to satiate his curiosity. Auria is proud to say Wraith has only been partially on fire ever since she began her duty. For she does not seek to control, or keep him in check. She seeks only to preserve Wraith, and let him exist as happily as he can be. A difficult thing when the most dangerous thing Wraith will ever face is himself.
Still Auria remains adamant and will not encroach upon his mannerisms, they are the soul of him. Wraith would not be her charge if not for his self destructive habits. Due to this Auria has very little time to manage anything but the spiral's personal safety. Thankfully for all of Sornieth and the clan a different dragon entered their small lair before Wraith managed disasters of catastrophic levels.
Starling first saw the chemical burns scarring the landscape. Next she grew horrified at the charred and twisted trees desperately siphoning what they could from a creek more sludge and toxin than water . Furious the young dragon fresh from the Viridian Labyrinth looked for the one responsible. It didn't take long to find Wraith. Irate she lashed out at the spiral with every horrid word she knew. Starling cursed him and demanded he reverse all the damage wrought from his machinations. But instead of firing back and resisting as Starling thought he would, Wraith listened. And grew curious.
From the moment he saw her Wraith felt inexplicably drawn to the glimmering spiral. Within the space of a blink he resolved to do as she asked. Wraith labored, for weeks, months, but despite his best attempts he only worsened the problem. Distractions faced him at every turn, curing this would destroy that, and he simply had to know why. Wraith plunged headfirst into studying anything that came his way, and the environment continued to deteriorate despite his surprisingly well meaning attempts. Exasperated but amused Starling couldn't help but laugh at Wraith's endearing efforts to fix everything. But order would never follow him, he was chaos personified. And so she decided she to stay with him and fix the problems he created. After that it didn't take long for Wraith and Starling to become fast friends, and they have been inseparable ever since their odd partnership. To this day Starling seems able to magically keep the lair thriving despite the constant destruction that follows Wraith.
The two have been inseparable ever since and Starling's joining the clan was it's true beginning. Her name had never been Starling, but Wraith had never called her anything else. He had always loved the stars, and it was his way of saying she was greater than them. His own star that keeps him grounded when he goes too far. When she decided to stay she made the name her own, having forgotten what she might have been called years before. Wraith remains faithful to her, and she is the only one that can truly keep him in check. Since their partnership more dragons have come to the lair and joined in their efforts. The first among them being Serrach, arriving just as young Neo left to find his own fortune in the world.
These days Wraith and Starling see much less of each other. Starling is normally taking care of clan matters and keeping everything alive, whereas Wraith delves ever more deeply into his studies and experiments. One day he took note of explosions happening when they shouldn't, fires appearing where there was no fuel. The only clues to these happenings were flashes, flickers, whenever he tried to focus on what he saw it disappeared. Wraith took it as a challenge, causing massive damage to the lair as he explored and discovered what created these strange phenomena. Months passed, it became a game, which Wraith enjoyed vastly, and he would not lose.
Just as the entire lair had about enough and considered casting him down as leader Wraith laid his final plan, and succeeded in capturing an elusive trickster. An ethereal spirit of mischievousness, charming and intelligent. A familiar. At their meeting they became fast friends, after all, they had already begun to know each other intimately through their games. The trickster having quite enjoyed the long lasting chase with Wraith, and surprised that the spiral had been able to not only spot him but catch him introduced himself as Havoc. These days he assists Wraith in numerous experiments as friend and constant companion. He also provides endless entertainment for the spiral's sometimes cruel sense of humor and curiosity.

Wraith has finally done it. In the midst of a very explosive experiment he somehow managed to transport the entire clan to the region of the Icewarden. Thanks to some suave talking from Wash everyone survived and has found a new home in the icy floes. Now Wraith is still seen as the head of the clan, but he mostly ignores everything but his experiments and those dragons willing to help him with them. The rest of the clan took a more diplomatic approach in his absence, with Wash and Zoe lead together as equals, doing their best to keep everyone alive and in line. Warden keeps relations with Ice Flight smooth, Luthien deals with expanding the lair both in size and finding new dragons, and Puck sees to well...exploring. Oh Baurik takes the notes, just don't tell him he can't read or write they are very important scribbles and he can read them. Bubblegum. No one is sure how he got here but he kind of just, but one day he was found keeping some hatchlings warm and he hasn't left since. Usually bustling parents away from nests so he and the rest of the extra fluffy tundras can make sure the eggs and hatchlings stay warm in the bitter cold of the lair.
No one likes to mention Venom or Ash. Though they are both on the council. After all know one can keep the heat running without them. Wash just calls them the 'Overseers' and that keeps them happy. Venom doesn't seem to appreciate the chaotic loveliness the clan has and keeps trying to tell everyone to 'get back to work?' And Ash keeps getting frustrated that no one is following the schedules she makes. Zoe can communicate with them both well enough, though she thinks them quite odd.
There are three warriors in the clan that no one will mess with, and they are very loyal to Wraith and Starling for some unknown reasons, they are Lavi, Rezz, and Althea. They are also very close with Wash and Zoe and will do anything to protect their clan.
