Alone in the wasteland the little egg quivered. It could have hatched months ago, but it could feel the death permeating the air around it. The rot in his would-be siblings said enough.

The plague mother demanded the strongest survive, but none had survived as it spread through his fire clan. He was a mere egg, and the only survivor at that. Why would he choose to live in a world like this... alone...

Darkness fell around him, and the death around it. He felt life all around. The may be his only chance. He hatched.

These weren't living. But the souls of the dead clan brought him comfort, and he revelled in the joy of having them for the night.

There are those in the world who are born into a life with no love and strive for it everyday. Others use the tiniest spark of happiness to empower their lives and bring joy to those around them.

Samhain was not one of those. The glimmer of love he felt as a hatchling only made him bitter. If he couldn't be loved, then he would be hated.

As his first winter approached, he took his first life. A simple fight for warmth, but the blood etched itself onto his soul. He kept the bones as a trophy to guide himself
