 Thane Barnette | FishermanTitle / Skydancer / Male "Before you start, I don't want to hear your reasoning behind why I shouldn't care; you need help and denying yourself that could kill you...." Voice - Watsky | Theme 1 - The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA | Theme 2 - TALKING HEADS - This Must Be the Place Thane, brother of Ashur and Murphy, is an extremely laid back dragon, which may be why he was drawn to the job of fisherman; the hours of quiet waiting gives him ample time to cat nap between catches. He lost his wings while protecting Ashur from the Undying Featherbacks that killed the rest of their clan- this, along with just experiencing more during their travels, is what caused him to become so mellow. Despite his aloof demeanor and lack of interest in anything that requires too much thinking, he is highly intelligent, although he never really shows it. He knows Ashur feels as though he is the smartest and has fragile self esteem so he plays dumb to keep him happy; although he isn’t afraid to let little brother know when he’s doing something brash and stupid. His mellow attitude makes him easy to get along and chat with; conversations with him range from thing as simple as fishing or the weather to more complicated things like relationships between the outpost and fellow clans or the art of war. He doesn’t go looking to help many dragons with personal problems but if someone goes to him for help, he’s more than willing to give it. |

His gentle, caring demeanor is often of help when Pharaoh asks him to speak to a particularly anxious new member and played a bigger part than Thane will admit in helping his adopted brother, Chase Stone, stop being so afraid of everything.
He generally has a good understanding of when someone needs to talk or if they just need to be around someone with a calm vibe to them, and is persistent in trying to convince someone to talk to him. Though, despite being so calm on the outside, he does have a streak of his own sadness and anxiety that, while not exactly wide, can run deep at times; particularly when they're rooted in his family issues or his PTSD. He is willing to talk about these things, but it should be expected for him to become much more quiet and tense. |

Ashur  The relationship between Thane and Ashur, while still rough, is significantly better than Thane's relationship with Murphy; Thane was the one who saved Ashur's life from the Undying Featherbacks and took care of him on their journey to Skyhill. Even before then, he was protecting his little brother, making sure that Murphy's hate rarely reached their youngest sibling.After the three got to Skyhill, Ashur started drifting away causing a panic deep in Thane's chest; he had cared for Ashur and they had been fine for years so what suddenly changed? Whenever asked, Ashur gives him vague answers or simply pushes Thane away more, driving the panic and hurt deeper into the older man's heart. Thane hasn't given up on his little brother yet but it becomes increasingly hard with every interaction and he's lost sleep trying to figure out what's wrong... He just wants his brother back. |

Murphy  Thane doesn't hate Murphy like she hates him, which, of course, does not mean he exactly likes her. If he's honest, he really does avoid her like the plague but he doesn't think any less of her for what she does now; no, he thinks less of her for what she did before they arrived here. From the time that he was old enough to really process the world and others around him, he knew he and Murphy weren't friends and for awhile he tried to change that but she wanted nothing to do with him and started being nearly spiteful when Ashur was born, causing Thane to turn his focus to making sure that he was the main receiver of her hate.After their clan was killed, his dislike and distrust of her grew, reaching a new level every time she would get mad at him for having to stop them because the wounds on his back were hurting him or when she would leave without a word and return a few days later with no explanation. In the end, he doesn't bother making a big deal out of not liking her because it's his own business and, well, she seems to act decently toward the others in the clan... And as much as he would like to have a normal family, he knows that the hoops he would have to jump through are far to high and far too many for it to really be worth his effort though it still wears on him at times.... |
