Biography

DIYANATI
[ corrupted • valiant ]

son of the lightweaver | headstrong, bold, triumphant

Diyanati's legend is one the Lightweaver blesses upon only those brave enough to hear it. He was not the first child she created, but he was the first to stay beside her and serve her. Even by Diyanati's birth, the Shade was a bold threat across dragonkind. In the era in the wake of the centuries' war, deviant gods and foolish mortals had secretly begun to craft objects infected by the Shade into items, granting them powers from otherworldly realms. However it was not without a price — the gods have since wondered if the Shade is something sentient, as it infects the minds of those in his presence too long. Diyanati was the Lightweaver's valiant in destroying the Shade's influence. Gifted with the sun's radiance, he poured the shadows from each reach of Sorneith he touched. It was he who vanquished the Arcane Binder and retrieved Contagion's Root. They then set their sights upon the Arcanist's banished creation and his wicked crown, rumored to be holed up on an island in the Frigid Floes, in the terrible waters caused by the Crescendo. Unfortunately, Diyanati either did not understand or underestimated the strength of the Shade and a former Emperor.

The Crown Diggory wore shaped the minds of those around him — though Diyanati did not realize just how subtly until he was defeated and prone in the spiral's presence, listening to words of how he was just a pawn of his mother. Not mortal and not divine, just a poor servant bottlefed on the way of the Light. He had been raised in time of war when the Shade threatened to darken the skies. But what he and the divine did not understand was that the Shade was different than its first presence: when the Pillar shattered, the Astronomer was tainted with its tendrils and bore it as an element the gods refused to recognize. It was thus as the Astronomer's souls alone who could wield the Shade and search out its natural equal. The Shade would consume the world if it did not find its pair, such as how the Lightweaver would dry and burn Sorneith to the brink if not for the Shadowbinder. Something in it compelled Diyanati. After all, his mother had not even trusted him with Contagion's Root, and she did not accompany him here on his quest. And so, to all those other than the Crowned Prince's island, he vanished.

For years, Diyanati's world shrunk to just the isle, affectionately called Nova. His relationship with the prince warmed now that he was no longer at a threat, and he began to serve as the primordial's general and advisor, passing to him all things he knew of the Shade — including how he had defeated Diggory's half-brother and taken the Root. Nova was far from empty: it also contained Diggory's frigid partner in exile the Wind Singer, the ever-cold imperial Vela, and one of the Icewarden's spurned children Marva. There came a day, however, when the Stars descended to whisper in Diggory's ear that the Lightweaver had taken another champion, and given him Contagion's Root. Diggory has promise the sword to Diyanati once they wrest this imperial free from the Lightweaver's bonds... though such a prize somehow pales to the traitorous sense of compassion and kinship Diyanati has found himself feeling for his brother.
