Biography

monument_ice.png NICOLI
WIND OF THE NORTH

Uh-oh, looks like this naive and friendly buddy wandered a little too far from his home lair (#170580, Tsuni), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

An adventurer at heart, this gentle and extremely kind, somewhat innocent boy aims to travel the world, meeting many friends along the way. He never stays in a single place for too long and never has anything or anyone with him, knowing it'll slow him down if he does. He aims to get to at least one hundred different clans before even considering going home. This Ice dragon is ready for the big world and everything in it!
(Feel free to refine and add to his story before sending him off to the next clan! ^_^)

His story:
He had planned to leave ever since he was a hatchling. He planned what he needed to pack, what he didn't. He knew what direction to head first and planned to head out as soon as he could. A few dragons encouraged him to leave, it might bring more attention to his home clan. He was finally packing his final items to take with him. A silver skydancer dressed in snowy cloaks approached, and he looked up, a friendly smile on his beak

"Howdy, Miss Tsuni!" Nicoli greeted, then saw a rather dull Pearlcatcher. "Hello miss! I haven't seen you around, what's your name?"

"Go stuff some rotting leather down your throat. And it's none of your business," Aeona, a visitor to the clan, growled.

"Gee, Miss, I'm sorry if I offended you! Hey, you're new here, huh? Where'd you come from?" he asked.

"Wind flight, and every other one at that. You have no shot at surviving out there, kid," she growled. She was rude but Nicoli didn't really see that, he just thought she was doubting him because she was older and clearly an adventurer, too.

"There's where you're wrong, ma'am, but I don't have time to chat. I have to set out now or I won't get very far before sundown," he said, picking up only his food pack and flying off to see the world all for his own.

From the moment their eyes met, Nicoli was enchanted by her beauty.

Shuvirth was made of hard edges and spines. He was made of soft feathers and smiles. With a wit as sharp as her scales, she had come to the Zephyr Steppes from Nature territory. She was one of the founders of this clan, an enigmatic ridgeback that put on many masks for the sake of those under her. She was a defender, a storyteller, a protector -- but not a mother, not yet. Her words told of lands he had yet to explore, of sights he yearned to see. Shuvirth drew in Nicoli like a bumbler to honey.

And he smiled through every second of it.

Nicoli's next stop was at a quiet village in the Wispwillow Grove filled with mostly purple dragons. His breed and colors stuck out like a sore thumb, but he was treated alright.

He exchanged stories with another dragon, a Tundra who had seen many more clans than he had, and though Wilde was quite attractive, he stayed true to his love.

She left soon after, and Nicoli was alone again.

However, this was a village filled with traveling dragons, and a day later a Pearlcatcher who seemed to be a bit lost and dejected took Wilde's place. She didn't like this village, and she wanted out. So of course, being the friendly dragon Nicoli was, he decided to escort her to their next destination.

The next clan he and Stine visited was one Stine liked even less. Nicoli wanted to stay - the dragons here were the friendliest ones he had ever met - but Stine still was reluctant to travel alone and very agitated by the lair, so he traveled with her, half-hoping he could visit the clan again someday so he had the chance to actually meet some of the dragons.

The next clan was a wind clan Stine knew from before. They enjoyed some relaxing days, but one day, Stine decided it was enough of wellness for her - so she left with a new partner (a traveler freshly starting her journey who prefered to start off with an experienced partner).

After some time Nicoli got bored of the new faces - as travelers came and went, like the never-stopping wind - and started the examination of wind terrain and flora. During one of his trips, a young female surprised him - later he got to know it was supposed to be a prank - and it was such a successful surprise, he burst out laughing. All the stress and boredom he started feeling went away with that laughter - and he found something precious along the way: Love. They continued their journey together - with smiles on their rather different faces.

Zatice and Nicoli helped Blackridge with some rowdy hatchlings! They had a huge wedding and are sent off with blessings. *Nicoli has recieved a white silk scarf and a Sylvan filigree as wedding gifts!*

The clan the pair visited next was nestled deep within the Foxfire Bramble of the Tangled Wood. The dragons there were unlike any he had met before. Few would speak more than a word to him and all seemed...pained. Very pained. After enough wandering about, careful not to get in the way of a clan that was clearly only just building what seemed to be a new lair, a Nocturne of the land approached him. She dazzled from head to toe, yet the glittering was just like the brambles all around her, much like her name - Bramble. It would be easy to lose track of the Nocturne, a little too easy, but he didn't mind.

She said that these were members of a clan horribly destroyed by the Shade, but that he and his mate were welcome to rest in their area.

It was little more than an area for now.

He laid down to rest for a while from the travel they had finished so well, but for the rest of their stay, he helped the solemn dragons dig out their new clan's lair.

It was the least he could do.

Nicoli and his mate wandered for a time. They saw multiple clans, and did it so quickly he couldn't even keep records of them!

But eventually something went wrong in the last clan they were in, and the two were separated. So he did what any good mate would do, and he started looking for her. It wasn't until a while later that a darkly colored Pearlcatcher would stop him in his travels, claiming that Zatice was looking for him.

And where was she? Reticent Requiem of all places. The clan that he had helped before. He didn't think it was enough, but he really didn't have anything else that he could have done for them.

He followed the Pearlcatcher and asked her all kinds of questions. Looking back on it later, she spoke a lot without answering them. She was interesting. In the end, all he got out of her was that her name started with a K - he thought, she was a survivor of Voiceless Reverence - their old clan, and that she was phenominal at card games.

He reunited with Zatice once they arrived in the clan. The Pearlcatcher slipped away, and he could've sworn Zatice almost started crying.

She didn't though.

He did get pranked a couple times during the time the pair spent resting in the clan before moving on though.

Nicoli's stay in the SpiralScale Clan was quite short, shorter than he would have liked. When he had first arrived, the feeling of awaited disaster that hung like cobwebs over the clan put him on edge, but he soon discovered that this was due to its chaotic nature. Many times during his stay, Nicoli wondered about the clan. Accidents seemed to be avoided by the second, each of them passing without any accident actually occurring. It was strange, and his mate agreed. They didn't want to say here for too long.

Nicoli wandered around the clan, peeking into open mouthed caves before coming to the main marketplace, right in the middle of the clan. The market was huge, filled with dragons of all shapes and sizes. Nicoli had a look through the stalls, exhaling ten cakes and jewellery, stopping at the very last stall. This stall was laden with shining wine bottles, each polished and labelled in stunning writing. The Skydancer picked up a bottle of 'Sparkling Mullberry Prize' and tilted if too the light. Small flakes of gold swept through the substance, glimmering like small candles through the liquid. Behind the counter sat a neat looking Nocturne, sporting a long grey waistcoat and little spectacle. He offered Nic a sample of the wine, suggesting its delectable aroma and sweet after taste as he did so. The Skydancer downed the sample in one gulp, wincing ta the sharpness of if on his tongue. He walked away after that, embarrassed.

A few days later, Nicoli and Zatice made pans to leave. Both had loved their stay, but felt that it was time to leave and continue their travels once more. As they lifted up, out of the clans territory, the soft, sweet melody of a lyre played through the air. They turned in unison, putting the clan behind them and heading on to a new place.

Nicoli's next stop was a place he had been to before. I haven't been there in a while, he said. It'll be fun, he said.

It was not fun.

Whatever "clan" he had promised to show Zatice was completely in ruins. The only way he knew it was that place was because he recognized a certain structure, which had almost been completely burned down.

"I don't know what happened," he breathed softly. "I... guess we'll have to go find somewhere else to stay," he sighed, voice breaking.

However, just when they were about to leave, the couple ran into another pair of traveling dragons who had slept in a makeshift den made of sticks and leaves. They were an odd pair, but they seemed to get along quite well, despite being a Wildclaw and a Fae.

"We'd caught wind of a clan in hiding somewhere nearby," the Fae told them, who had introduced herself as Glee. "Want to come with us?"

"...Sure," Nicoli finally agreed, defeated.

Little did he know that the strange village they stopped at was the very same clan that Nicoli had visited all those years ago.

But it was not the same. There was an entirely new air to the place - everyone seemed to be on edge. A few dragons looked vaguely familiar, but not the same as it was before.

Nicoli and Zatice were only even more uncomfortable once Glee and Loyalty left. They were regarded as the outsiders who could not be trusted, and while the villagers were outwardly friendly towards them, they could tell something was wrong.

Zatice and Nicoli took a long rest at a popular traveler's inn, before they decided to continue their journey.

They wound up in the Tangled Wood, stranded in the middle of a murky forest with thousands of glimmering mushrooms. Latice wandered over to one that shone brighter than the others, only for a gloomwillow guide to pop out! Although startled, she and Nicoli soon noticed the inquisitive critter appeared to be eager for them to follow it. So they did.

After following the guide through an intricately designed labyrinth, the pair landed in a hidden clan. Despite their surprise, they signed in, curious to read the other names. Unfortunately, they didn't see any of the travelers they had passed on their way over, but it was nice to meet new dragons.

Nicoli especially enjoyed the company of Nestor, a retired traveling dragon. He told Nicoli of his adventures which had turned out to be less than Nicoli. Still, he seemed to have his reasons for such a hasty return home.

Feeling more relaxed, the pair spent a while here, before finally leaving.

Zatice and Nicoli came to the Lost Realm. They had been ambushed by bandits, and needed somewhere safe to stay. The clan revealed itself to these weary travelers, the allure of magic drawing them in. The dragons here were kind, and obviously used to receiving travelers, for there was an entire den complex devoted to temporary residents. They were shown to a den where they settled down, content to sleep in the warm safety of the den. They would explore again tomorrow. The clan had been kind, and they didn't want to intrude any longer than they had to.

Still a bit on edge from the bandit ambush, the two rested and recovered in the safety of a Venerable Lair within the Foxfire Bramble, the lair was dark and difficult to see too far, but it was quite cozy and neither were too bothered by the change. Within the shadows and dark Nicoli and Zatice recuperated over two months before getting ready to set out again, healthy and excited to continue the adventure ahead.
