Vehuiah

Angel Vehuiah is believed to be the one to look towards for guidance in beginning anew.

Spirals are seen as hyper and over-bearing. This is unfair, due to a small portion of them being more like Vehuiah. He’s mysterious and very little is known about him. But he will listen no matter what you need to say. If you get close enough to him to have him tell you his story, he might tell you something like this.

Vehuiah was born in the Southern Icefield, during a particularly harsh winter. Blizzards and famine ravaged the land of its riches. Dragons were suffering, freezing to death every day. A nest of lucky hatchlings managed to hatch despite the bitter cold. Vehuiah was the first to hatch from his egg and greet the world. Even with the snow, he did not shiver.

Days turned into weeks and Vehuiah grew and grew. By the time he was a full fledged adult, he was working in his clan’s prison as a jailer. Prisoners were dragged to and fro every day, and the Spiral was in charge of keeping an eye on them. Though his gaze was cold, his heart was warm. He’d grown with a sympathy he couldn’t attribute to anything in his life. The land held no place for good-hearted dragons like him.

Vehuiah eventually grew tired hearing the prisoners cry and beg for release. So he would go to them and ask them questions about their lives before the prison. He was always there to listen and even offer his advice and condolences for the lives the inmates were forced to leave behind. He eventually left his home clan and quit his job as a jailkeeper.

He traveled for months, facing blizzards and robbers constantly. Though he struggled and had to learn to survive in the ice region, he knew it was his home. Or so he tried to convince himself. A mysterious sorcerer approached him one day and the two strangers shared a meal and some advice. The sorcerer advised him to go to the Virdian Labyrinth and make his home there. He advised the sorcerer to travel to his former clan.

Vehuiah tells that he eventually arrived here, where he offers guidance to those lost without any idea what to do. Whether this is his true story is unknown, whether he’s a mortal being or some all-powerful deity is unknown, and what his intentions are is unknown. As mysterious but as good a listener as Vehuiah is, he’s an intriguing and easy dragon to speak with.
