______ Arvon was born to two guardians who loved each other deeply, bound by fate to be each other's charges and mates. She was given the name SoulsRelease when she came of age and left on her search, but it has long since been discarded. SoulsRelease was raised to believe that she would be as strong as her parents, able to do anything that she truly wanted and could find and protect her charge with her life. When she was old enough, she set out, looking for the one she would stay with forever. She found her surprisingly quickly, a ridgeback also born in the Scarred Wasteland named Ysaldra. SoulsRelease committed to her fully, quickly befriending her and defending her against anything that looked at her wrong. SoulsRelease was determined to see to it that Ysaldra remain safe, and that she would be the best guardian there ever was, as good as her parents if not even better.

But things never go the way we plan.

______ SoulsRelease failed to protect Ysaldra. Shortly after they joined a clan, they were attacked by a massive pack of mirrors that tore most of the clan apart, including Ysaldra. Only SoulsRelease and a few other dragons survived, driving the remaining mirrors off and being left to survey the carnage. Two of the three still-living dragons were guardians, and the third was the charge of one of them. The other's charge was an item, a magical amulet that he wore around his neck, so it had remained safe. As they disposed of the dead, SoulsRelease stricken with anger and grief, the guardians started to pick on her, calling her a failure for allowing her charge to die. Ysaldra had been a ridgeback, how hard could she have been to protect?

______ SoulsRelease snapped. Grief turned to sheer rage and she turned on the other two guardians, killing one of them almost immediately and gravely wounding the other. As he watched, she killed his charge before spitting the blood in his face and ripping his throat out. Emboldened by her sudden victory, she swore vengeance against the mirrors who had done this and tracked the survivors of the pack down, killing them all and leaving her bloodstained, victorious, and filled with screaming anger. Despite her victory in battle, she had still failed Ysaldra. The shame of it ate away at her until she discarded her identity, renaming herself Arvon and moving away, far away, from both her home clan and where she had lost Ysaldra.

______ Arvon, still stricken with grief and bent on vengeance on the world, began killing every dragon she came across, leaving a trail of corpses and a river of blood in her wake. When she returned to one of her crime scenes, vision hazed over red in blood and anger, she found a curious-looking imperial covered in bone fragments poking through the corpses. He introduced himself as Kzemek and complimented her on her kills, offering to go with her and provide a second set of eyes and talons. The void in her heart left by the absence of Ysaldra cried out for companionship and she accepted. Together, they wreaked havoc around several elemental regions, branding themselves as murderers and criminals, wanted dead or alive.

______ Kzemek, worried, eventually brought up the idea of laying low for awhile, in a region that they hadn't been to yet. Arvon reluctantly agreed, and they made their way to the Shifting Expanse, a place where dragons asked fewer questions about your past and more about what you could do. They found a clan full of outcasts and stayed, never revealing their past and never speaking of why they were who they were. Few asked, fewer were answered, and they were left largely alone.

______ Rage still burns in Arvon's heart, and she seeks a way to redeem herself. She and Kzemek slowly worked together on a twisted theory of his to bring back the dead, and after a trip to the Scarred Wasteland and the sacrifice of many dragons' lives, Ysaldra stood upon her own feet once more.

______ Arvon sees this as her second chance and defends the walking corpse of Ysaldra viciously, looking after her and making sure she is safe. Ysaldra does not speak and follows orders from Arvon and Kzemek, betraying the lack of a soul within, but Arvon doesn't seem to notice, insisting that she is just fulfilling her duty as Ysaldra's guardian. Ysaldra, for her part, seems indestructible, not going down even in the Betrayal.

______ Klaeod was less than enthusiastic about Arvon and Kzemek raising Ysaldra from the dead, and, aware of their murderous past, was suspicious of the methods that they used. He didn't accuse them of returning to their old ways, however, as he wasn't aware of any transgressions during the years that they had been with the clan. They were not kicked out of the clan until Arvon attacked and blinded Veltarkon, Klaeod's second-in-command, during an incident where he attacked Ysaldra with no memory of doing so. Klaeod, overcome with rage, told Arvon, Kzemek, and Ysaldra to leave, and to never return, or they would find enemies in the clan.

______ Furious, Arvon fled, mate and charge not far behind. During her raging and ranting, screams echoing off of the dunes, a mirror in black armor approached, a grin affixed to her face. She introduced herself as FierceReaper, and she promised to take over the clan of Klaeod the Crimson and bring the man himself to his knees.

______ They couldn't resist. The trio joined the group that FierceReaper called the Insidious, and with the help of other discontents in the Shifting Expanse and agents inside the clan, including Seven's own daughter, Nyrathla, the Insidious planned a vicious attack that killed about two dozen members of the clan and succeeded in wresting control from Klaeod for a month. Arvon delighted in torturing her old clannmates, but it was her that noticed that something was wrong first.

______ Where was Ember? By sheer chance, she, Ember, and Veltarkon originally hailed from the same clan, and while she could stand neither of them, the absence of Ember was suspicious. All other clan members pleaded ignorance, a few even snapping that it was better this way, good riddance, but Arvon wasn't convinced and alerted FierceReaper.

______ She was right to worry. Ember had escaped, at the command of Selkhenar, after the end of the attack. He had hidden in Selkhenar's empty skull, and then escaped when the opportunity presented itself. Ember had run all the way to the Scarred Wasteland, back to his birth clan, and alerted Priya to what was going on. Enraged at the audacity, Klaeod's allies swept in on magic and flaring wings, killing nearly half of the Insidious and driving the rest out, including Arvon and her trio.

______ Arvon's own parents know what she has become, and all she could do was snarl in defiance as she fled into the dunes.

______ Now, Arvon and the rest of the Insidious lick their wounds and hide amongst the sands, waiting for a chance to strike once more at the clan. It will not be easy, for now they are on high alert and the Insidious is out of inside agents. It's a conflict that has lasted years, and will last years more as long as Arvon has anything to say about it, for her bloodlust has been reignited and woe upon the traveling dragon seeking the clan that has the misfortune to encounter her instead.

______ However, a recent attack from Klaeod's clan led to Anduril getting access to Ysaldra--not for long, but long enough to change her, knock her from her mindless stupor and restore her mental faculties. Ysaldra, horrified at what Arvon had become and what she had done--what she had forced Ysaldra to do--denounced Arvon, insisting that she had failed as a guardian by falling so far, and fled with Anduril back to the clan. Devastated, Arvon flew all the way back to the Wyrmwound, Kzemek desperately chasing her the whole way. She stood at the edge, gazing into the cauldron, trying to find answers--and found them in the five eyes of an Aberration dragon, who offered her and her mate new forms, new life, new purpose, in exchange for some of their magical secrets. Desperate to be rid of the crushing guilt of a failed guardian, Arvon agreed, and hasn't looked back.

I am the claw that brings the flowing blood
I am the night that brings the day
I am the scabbed and aching infected wound
I’m the pulsing of the vein.

I was once a protector of spines
Ridges, hearts, and red.
I was once known, SoulsRelease,
But now I’m the talon heart.

Oohhh, I am the nightmare
Oohhh, I am the failure
Oohhh, I am the vengeful
Red unguardian,
Watcher of none.

Glory, glory, glory.

They mock, they laugh, they step around
They see me as nothing
Deep inside, the abyss within,
The claw, the talon, the angry vice
Blood, blood, the end of days
Never let you down, no, never again.

Death comes calling, but life can’t be outdone
Bones can mend and flesh can weave
Nothing is forever, nothing can’t be undone
I won’t let you go, no, you’ll never go
I am guardian, guardian, always your guardian,
And I won’t let you down.

Oohhh, I am the nightmare
Oohhh, I am the failure,
Oohhh, I am the vengeful
Red unguardian,
Watcher of none.

Glory, glory, glory.

I can never fall
I can never let you go
I can never fail you
I am the glorious blood
I am the talon in the night
I am the strewn bones
I am the lost souls
I am the endgame

Glory, glory, glory.

I am your guardian
(Glory, glory, glory)
I am your guardian
(Glory, glory, glory)
