Biography

Enyo
"You have no name? How is that possible?"

She shifted, wincing at the pain of her wounds. "In my clan, names are earned. For accomplishments, for the service you bring to your clan... I brought nothing to my clan but misfortune."

Kang paused. He was crouched slightly, doing nothing to hide his massive figure, but trying all the same."When I was a hatchling, back before my mother left to serve the gods, she told us stories of the warriors of old. I remember the story of one... small and swift, but deadly. No power in the world could defeat her. Not even death itself. I think you should have her name."

Her eyes widened. "But I'm not a warrior! I've won no battles."

"Not all battles are the same,
Enyo."

The warrior trio of the clan were out on patrol when they found something in the canyon. Bloody and unmoving, the dragons were unsure if Enyo was even alive. Kang insisted on bringing her back to their lair, where Sinclair and Karos worked to revive her.

Enyo was slow to open up, only speaking to Sinclair, who was constantly monitoring her health, and Kang, who hovered until she finally spoke to him.

Enyo was born to a clan in the Starfall Isles, but as she grew into an adult, her colors began to fade; the rich red color inherited from her father paling to a dull blush, and her wings taking on a greenish tint. Pale colors being a sign of ill health in coatls, her clan took this as an omen and banished her, hoping to spare the rest of the clan. She wandered the wilds -- alone, scared, and starving -- until her strength gave out. She resigned herself to the mercy of the wild beasts when she fell into Carrion Canyon.

Enyo is still recovering, and is still worried about being a burden to those around her. She often thinks of leaving, but wants desperately to repay the clan that gave her life. She assists Sinclair in his lab work to try to make herself useful. She tries not to eat as little of the clan's stores of food as possible, though Kang is watchful and never lets her skip a meal in his presence.

Time has passed since Enyo first came to the clan, and slowly she has begun warming to the others and settling into life here. Her personality has begun to come out more, revealing a sharp wit and a sharper tongue. Kang was among the first to be on the receiving end of her playful barbs, but is still reduced to stuttering every time it happens.

She has shown herself to be curious and resourceful, soaking in Sinclair's lectures more than most are able to. That said, she still hasn't decided if she wants to continue scientific study under his wings, or if she wants something different out of her life. She is still a diligent worker though, happy to make herself useful by organizing and categorizing his notes and experiments, and making sure they don't wreak havoc on the rest of the clan. She happily spends her days in the lab, and most of her nights are spend with Kang, when he isn't out on missions. He's brought her many trinkets from his expeditions, and Enyo keeps every one even though she still feels strange having possessions of her own to keep. But his stories are what she values most, hanging on each on with wide-eyed interest, whether it's about battles fought, or discoveries, or even his own past. Enyo finds the stories endlessly fascinating.

In return for all his gifts, Enyo has given Kang a ribbon, the same red as she used to be before her colors faded, for him to wear as a good luck charm. She suspects the others make fun of him for it, but secretly she finds that just as amusing.

With the high influx of hatchlings in the spring, Enyo has found herself constantly with hatchlings underfoot, and unsure what to do about it. She puts on a happy facade for the children's sake, but they only make her introspective; wondering about her health, and what her future may hold in store. She dares not speak this aloud though, even to her closest friends.
