Ask anyone who knows him; Samedi's life is a sad story. A kind-hearted dragon cast into an existence he hates, serving a tyrant wo thinks of him as nothing but a pawn. When he was born, Samedi already knew his charge. His nestmate and sister, Lorvora. The two of them were extremely close, and Samedi was always very protective of the younger, much smaller Tundra. The two kept their strong bond into adulthood, Lorvora becoming a beautiful, bright young dragoness, and Samedi growing to be one of the biggest Guardians his family had ever seen, and an excellent warrior. Samedi could defend his own, but really, he hated fighting. He would much rather be tending flowers with his sister than battling against enemies for gold and glory. Some called it a waste, but Samedi didn't mind. He was content. But it didn't last. One particularly harsh winter brought a wave of sickness to Samedi's home in Sam and Evian's clan. The healers worked day and night, but more and more dragons fell ill. Samedi was lucky enough to avoid catching it, Lorvora, not so much. It took two weeks for her to succumb to the illness. She died in the healer's den, right in front of her distraught brother. In that moment, Samedi felt a wave of absolute devastation unlike anything he had ever felt before. He had lost his charge. He had lost everything. He fell into a deep depression, hiding away in his den for nearly a month after his sister was buried, clutching onto the only thing he had left of her: the silver locket that Lorvora had always worn. He had protect it. It was all he had left, without it he was nothing. |

Samedi was visited one day during his depression by a dark colored Spiral who refused to give him his name. The strange dragon told him that Queen Valentine, the newest Queen of the nearby Aespana faction, had heard of his great potential and wished to hire his services as a guard for her palace. Of course, the Spiral had come at a very bad time if he wished for Samedi to follow any instruction. He didn't mean to, but Samedi snapped at the Spiral, telling him quite rudely that he wasn't going anywhere. An argument sparked between the two, which led to Samedi losing his temper and chasing the Spiral from his home. He went back to sleep that night in tears. When he awoke, the Guardian discovered in horror that the locket he had been clutching in his hand was replaced with a crumpled sheet of parchment. A letter, written in cursive he could barely read.
