There's got to be more relics. Their pitiful young gods don't know what's there.

Hey, where's she going?
I dunno. Think she's off to go explore? We've already gone through this area.

What're they making? They can't just use that kind of stardust--
I think they're making a new automaton.

I mean, she could just decide
to stay. Who knows, really...

Hey! They named her! Finally!
Did they?
They did! They're calling her
Tiberia. Isn't that just sweet?
It's a nice name, I guess.
No fun. She's just a baby. Who knows what her future's gonna be.

INTRODUCTION

____Who knew, really, who did? The Princesses wanted a scout to the new world that had started to develop. The order was out, and Tiberia was made, an automaton of stardust and shadow-blossoms designed to fool draconic mortals into believing she was one of them. The Princesses wanted power, and it was Tiberia's duty to scout the Dragon World for any. Of course, the World of Song had gotten there first, and in its wake it had left a sleeping elder god. A pity that its magic was too dangerous to bring back to the Night World. So Tiberia searched elsewhere. If the young gods of the Dragon World could somehow overlook the creation of an elder god, then what other powers could they be missing? Truly, nobody really knew for sure. So it would be Tiberia's duty to find out.

____That's the Night World: mist and shadow and sea. The shadows hide the mist, the mist itself will kill, and the seas are peaceful but hide the creatures within. It is not a safe place to be alone, and even those in the small cities stay either higher than the mist or below the ground. The Princesses, the trio of women whose skins shine with starlight; it is they who rule over all and destroy those who defy them. Their rule is kinder than one might believe, but their authority is not to be challenged.

SHADOWS

____They whispered in the bushes and the mosses when she took her first steps- quiet, so quiet she didn't hear them. Really, the only ones who heard them was each other: her own baby giggles and noises were much louder than their practiced, hushed voices. They all wanted to know. They all wanted to see. So they observed, in the shadows, where nobody could argue against their right to be there. She was a true wonder, and she would be their best. So they watched as she grew, and she never noticed their presence. So she grew up, aided by them but never recognizing what they were.

MOONLIGHT

____She's always done that. Always. They're her little faeries, little sprites that mean her no harm but seem to enjoy the idea of her as much as anyone else. They want to help build her, too. She could be our saviour. All her peers think that she's crazy, that there's no little winged beings that dance with her. They're just playing games, those sprites. It's so fun to play with children like that. And she makes them offerings, too. Offerings that the Princesses will hear about. She is a kind one, our ambassador.

OCEANSHINE

____What is truly the surprising part about her is that she can swim. She is not afraid of the monsters, of the leviathans within the depths of the sea. Why should she be? She is made of oceanshine, and she brings berries to the docks to feed them. They are her pets, and she is kind. We must tell the Princesses that she shows no fear. She may not understand the means of salted, choking death: but in her must surely be ingrained the fear of the waters. Or maybe, they would save her, should she fall. Her kindness now may mean her life later; though she doesn't appear to know that.

STARFEATHER

____A sight from beyond the heavens. She can fly, faster and farther and higher than any one of us. She'd leave us all on the ground if the Princess of the Sea didn't call her back. Truly, she will fit in well with those of the Dragon World. What else could be said- she is our pride, our joy, our saviour. The ambassador that will bring home more power than any of us could have ever dreamed. She even caught a falling star yesterday, and brought it to the Princess of the Sky. It's truly humbling.

The lights of the forests are cold, so cold. They will kill you as soon as you follow them into the mist. We have made lamps of warmth. At least, we did, in the Night World. This one will have to do as a substitute.

There are no stars here, and this place drives those here insane. Nobody would notice a portal here- or a temple. But the beasts within don't make it very safe. I should search elsewhere for a place befitting the Princesses.

Lyra's holding a festival for the next fortnight. Trickmurk Circus, they say. The starting festivities remind me too much of home. Perhaps I can help with the things I learned at home. Maybe they'll listen to the thrones.

They call him the Herald of War, and only through much insist did he allow me to join him in his travels. A warrior that can sense conflict is a useful pawn to have- but I fear he is running away from just that duty.
