When the small coatl came to the clan, she was a blank canvas. Allimnore had brought her home and plopped the big-eyed hatchling in front of Mokhra with a wink and was off without a word. Mokhra began the process of getting to know the young dragon as well as teaching her about their clan and other life skills. Tatiana frequented Mokhra's lair for a time, helping to translate. She'd grown up only hearing Coatl, but she was young and inquisitive and the common tongue came to her quickly.

          The little one was often caught staring into the flames of candles and the linked fireplaces that Oriel had created to heat the keep. Mokhra dismissed it as the fancies of one born to the Fire Flight until Fiamma had cause to visit her lair. The guardian, whose charge was fire, had internalized flames and had them licking out from grates in her sides. The small coatl was transfixed, mesmerized by the flames inside her. With the same glazed over look still on her face, she crooked a claw at the flames. To everyone's amazement, a small stream of fire twisted from Fiamma to the coatl.
          The little one smiled and chattered in coatl as the tiny ribbon of flame danced around her, settling in the crook of her wings where a subtle glow remained. Fiamma checked her sides, making sure that her precious fires still burned with the same intensity as before. Satisfied that the stolen flame had not affected her charge, she approached the coatl and inquisitively snuffed the glow. The coatl giggled as Fiamma's fins tickled her. Finally, she spoke.
          "May Oriel and I care for this little flame? We can still bring her to you for further instruction if you wish, but I have a feeling she will find our lair sooner or later." Mokhra agreed and handed the guardian a young owlcat that the coatl had befriended. Noting the matching glow emanating from the owlcat's wings, Fiamma nodded knowngly. "Come, Fiammetta."

          Fiammetta soon learned that she could coax the glow in her wings back into a dancing flame to play with. As she grew older, she began to borrow it from other sources to create an incredibly intricate display of firebursts and rivulets of flame in the air. For the magic to work, she needed to be in the center of the fire. Or perhaps she just preferred it that way. She would dance and arc through the fire, surrounded by flames that sometimes burned so brightly that you couldn't see her. Fiammetta also learned how to make it a subtle dance that wound around her body and sparked to accentuate her movements.
