Eldritch Necromancer Mage's Circle Eldritch was always known to be a special child, with a talent for necromancy arising at a young age. As a result, most children rejected him out of fear or scorn. Eldritch turned inwards and receded from the world, never able to feel truly connected with anyone. Being in large crowds just reminded him of how apart he felt from everyone else. His den in the mage's circle only separated him further, and he was content to quietly spend his days with pets he had constructed for himself. When a child was found nearly dead on the shores of the island, Eldritch hardly expected he would be able to do anything for her. But when he was able to revive her somewhat successfully, the task of handling the child was thrust onto him. At first, Eldritch was very resentful; but he quickly found himself warming up to the child. He couldn't help but feel a kinship to her. And so he tried to protect her by keeping her inside away from people so that she wouldn't suffer the hurt and rejection he had. Vulla, however, had other ideas. She did all she could to escape and drag Eldritch out with her, and was happy to talk with the many eccentric mages in the neighborhood. Seeing Vulla connect with others made Eldritch feels like he was also connecting, and it wasn't long before she no longer had any restrictions, and Eldritch himself was opening up to others as well. For the first time, he felt like he was part of a community. When it was discovered Vulla had unique powers of her own and the queen invited her to become a part of the senate, it was very hard for Eldritch. He felt like he was losing the only person that truly understood him. After she moved out, he started to stay inside more and more, but his fellow mages noticed and intervened. They drag him out of his den to attend activities he would have otherwise attended with Vulla. Eldritch has started to recover, but it's not the same. Eldritch is definitely happiest when he is visiting Vulla, or vice versa. Many days he doesn't leave his den at all. But with the support of his clan mates, he takes one day at a time. When he's excited or trying too hard to be funny, his voice tends to get louder and a bit squeaky. He's very embarrassed about it, but no one makes fun of him for it. Sometimes when Eldritch is very happy he starts crying, because he's so thankful for what he's been given. He regrets being unable to reach out when he was younger. |
