Clever, as many of Lightning Flight are, she is impossibly curious, and she has to maintain a strict schedule in order to get anything done: Morning tea, morning constitutional, tinkering and repair, lunch, social hour, further tinkering and experimentation, consultation, supper, reading, reading, reading...
Though she tends to blend theory and practice, Patina's greatest joy comes from building things for others. Her best pieces so far have been for the skydancer, Titus, whose amputated legs made travel painful and difficult until she was able to fashion and perfect a pair of prostheses for him. They're far from a pair of flesh and blood legs, but they do well enough for his purposes. She is always happy to tune them up for him, as well, when a joint slips or a mechanism fails.
Otherwise, Patina's days are spent largely corresponding with other researchers and testing tensile strength of various ores and minerals. While she loves working with machinery and making new things, sometimes the data is what pays the rent.
She lives with her mate, Laurel, and has enjoyed many delectable treats since meeting her.
