______ Agate and jasper are some of his favorite stones, and he is often caught turning a piece of either in his hands, delighting in the shapes and colors of the inclusions. Easily startled, he hates surprises almost as much as he hates a fraud, and many find him easy to trade with for his upright honesty, even if it is to his disadvantage.

______ He trades in gemstones, raw or cut, polished or dull. He has the knack to grind lapis lazuli down to the finest powder for inks and dyes. He knows how to pull the brightest shine from a bad piece of quartz, how to cut a troublesome emerald, and what - exactly what - to do with a raw chunk of ore that might be better off as a central piece in someone's collection.
